Thanks for the compliments everyone. I'm really hoping this does become an annual event, though if it does we have to make it so that Proditor can get in on it.

Sorry to hear about your computer Prod, I've been there. An extension is more than fine by me.

One way we could get Proditor to be able to enter the contest would be to see if Steve or some of the other folks over at Hero Games might be willing to act as the judges, freeing Proditor (and any one else for that matter) to be able to enter without any bias (of course employees and their families at Hero Games would be ineligble).

Re: The First (Hopefully) Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Modding Contest!

Thanks for the well wishes folks, it's all in the hands of UPS and Western Digital now. Why don't we extend the deadline to the 31st just to make everyone's life easier.

As for the fan vote, well, the board members do get to vote. Once voting begins I'll outline this a little better, but basically the boards factor in at two places. One, they count as an "extra" vote above and beyond anyone who entered the contest to determine final standings. Two, whoever wins the "Fan choice" category gets an honorable mention award. If that person also placed, it'll shift down the lines until we hit someone who did not place, but the boards thought did a bang up job anyway. If I'm still flubbing the explanation, hopefully the examples in the voting instructions in roughly 3 weeks will make it all clear as crystal.

Keep modding folks, you even got an extra week!!

And we're back. Seems I have the issues of the computer licked (At least till the next explosion...) so I should be around a lot more.

Yay! Thanks for extending the deadline. I have to make a trip down to the big city for parts; there's no way I would have anything completed in time otherwise.

RM, he's loverly. How did you do the wings? Looking at the pic, they look nothing like the Manbat wings...

(PS: who else is entering this contest? C'mon, folx, let's see those minis!)

(PPS: I've got three I'm working on... depending on who gets done/who looks best will be the one I enter).

    Re Gargoyle wings from Manbat's,

The wings are inverted, with what were the inside surfaces on Manbat facing outward on Gargoyle. Add to this that the top ridge of the wings become the points of connection to the Python figure.

Looking forward to your entry mini.

Oh, I see it now. Upside down and backwards. Very clever. I don't think I'd've thought of that.

Fear him, for he is... The Monster!

Here's my official entry into the Mod Contest (in honor of the festive Hallowe'en season): The Monster, from CKC.

He has the body and hat of a HeroClix Scourge (http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix...sp?unitid=5572)

The arms are from a Ral Partha Crucible Sand Elemental (picture attached). I had to shave off the drooping robes from the arms and make them look more like regular sleeves.

His head is an Orc skull from Games Workshop; the hair is modeled from putty. I was originally going to use Scourge's head, but it didn't look "monstrous" enough for me, so I found an old orc skull, cut it down so the hat fit better, added hair, and voila!

Some plasticard painted like broken concrete, a few skulls and bones hastily buried under the sidewalk with tallus, some weeds... I think he's a good, scary, Hallowe'enish figure. The only thing I'm not sure about is the blood dripping from his claws -- it looks a little too goopy (like the stuff they dumped on kids in every 80's Nickelodian show). Tell me how you like him!

    Bill.
(And thanks again to Prod for running this whole thing, and for giving us a couple extra days to get entries in!)

Nice work Bill. That figure looks great and the base with the victim's remains hastily hiden is a beautiful touch. I really love how the face came out. Good luck in the contest.

This contest was a great idea Proditor.

    Really nice work Bill!

I'm not sure if my entry is going to be ready unfortunately. We'll see. Need to find a little more time to work on him this week.

Thanks RM, Zorn, Myrlyn. I hope you get your entry done soon, Myrlyn, I can't wait to see it. Surely we can't be the only mini painters/modders on the boards? Where's Mags, and Blue, and the others who were posting their figs in the other thread?

Re: The First (Hopefully) Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Modding Contest!

I hope I get it finished too Bill! Our Champions game looks like it is going to be cancelled for tomorrow evening, so I might just get it finished yet. If I can get the mod work finished tomorrow evening, I should be able to get it primed before the weekend and painted before midnight on the 31st (the 31st is the new deadline, right?). We'll see. Wish me luck!

    Keith

P.S. I need to head out and pick up a few items to go on the base of the fig. Might need to pick up a few Epic Warhammer 40K parts for that...
