Very nice to have you on board Blue.I like him and will be making yet another Homage figure at some point.
I usually use Squadron Green Filler putty to fill seams and such. Very thin stuff, spreads easy, sands easy.

Thanks.
I tried to make the second one easier, by removing any need to glue and fill in. Vibron as described in the CKC, here is Annihilus with the wings snipped and the collar chiseled down and the spiked shouldpads cut away. Unfortunately it still leaves him stoop shouldered.
I think this is about it for me for a while; I'm getting no inspiration from few minis I have as they relate to the pictures in the books.
Proditor, what's Squadron Green Filler Putty, and do you have a good supplier or review of the material?Originally Posted by proditor

Sure, for the Putty itself, most Model shops carry it as it's been the seam filler of choice in the Model building world for nigh on 30 years now. Otherwise, you can mail order it here: http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=SQ9050
It's a mostly smooth very "liquid" putty that goes on like...hrmmm..loose peanut butter? I can't find a good analogy for it really. It's hard to find a review of the product, just pages and pages of folk who used it to fill seams, make blast bags for Battelships, etc. etc. It dries in about 24 hours and takes paint well. It sands easily, though you have to watch for bubbles during application. There's nothing more annoying than sanding it down and getting a big divot.
I do NOT recommend it for serious sculpting BTW, as it is very liquidy and does not hold forms so much as fill seams. For actual sculpting, I swear by Tamiya Epoxy Putty (Smooth Surface) which you should also be able to get at most model shops, or at the link I provided above. I've found it to be smoother than Milliput, Green/Blue stuff, really anything else I've used, and by volume, it's cheaper to boot.![]()

Well, if Dark Seraph came down with a bad case of elephantitis of the head he might resemble something like this.
The two parts looked good for the project seperately. Put them together and he's less "menacing demonic angel" and more "goofy big-head guy".
I still like it Blue (even with the big head)! Now, what did you use for the recipe?
Keith
Thanks. Hardly a recipe. It was two pieces and one was the wrong size
It's collosus head (which I had left over from the Ogre mini), and which remarkably had exactly the same expression as the picture of Dark Seraph in CKC. The crown was made with greenstuff, in roughly the shape and then trimmed away with clippers when it dried.
The body was a MageKnight wereraven with the head snipped.
As I said, the two pieces looked good; Good enough that I didn' even match the two up until I was ready to glue them. Then realizing they were the wrong size I tried to find a replacement among the few clix I have. No luck.
So I recommend that if you try this, the body is great for this (except the feet) but find a better head than I did!
Only 6 more shopping days left!

Ack! The pressure! Can't... take... much... more... of... it!
Keith
Myrlyn -- hurry up bro, I can't wait to see your stuff!
Blue -- Dark Seraph looks fantabulous, seriously. The head is a tiny bit out of scale, but not so much that it distracts from the miniature overall. I'd almost say it's the crown that makes it too big. But (for future reference), you can trim down the back and sides of the head with an X-acto knife to make it appear a little bit smaller (if it bothers you too much, but it doesn't bother me at all so YMMV). Beauty, man, good jorb.
Now... where's Mags' entry?
Bill.
Thanks guys.
Putting a mini up here among those of other posters feels like hanging a paint-by-numbers in the Louvre.
You sell yourself short. Looking at your mods it's clear that you have a good eye.
The voting deadline is this Sunday, the 14th, by noon? Are we just PMing them to you Prod?
