I'm not sure how many people here are fammiliar with the board game Talisman. But here goes, would this make an interesting world to set a game? Since it provides so many different character types, how would they tranlate into Hero terms?

Well, the "world' is basically the world of Warhammer (with Warhammer 40K thrown in if you have the Timescape expansion).
As a setting, the Warhammer Fantasy RPG wasn't bad - if a little generic.

Just take each character card and translate it into a package deal or template. You may end up having to design several different schools of magic but if that's what you're looking for, it won't be to daunting. If you're serious about it though definately look to pick up the Warhammer RPG for reference.
