    Question Gigaton vs Gravitar - who would win?

    I just want to get some opinions on this. If Gigaton and Gravitar were to fight, who would win? Gravitar seems more powerful even though Gigaton is built with more points.

    That would be my assessment as well. Of course, that may explain why Gravitar is a major league supervillain in her own right while Gigaton is really just a lackey for Dr. Destroyer.

    Gravitar is built on 1000 points. Gigaton is built on 678.

    Gigaton can give Gravitar a pretty good fight, given the size of his attacks and defenses, but he's going to lose at least 9 of 10, if not 95 of 100.

    Factors Gravitar has on her side include:
    - Better DEX and SPD;
    - Vastly higher defenses;
    - Much better total OCV/DCV, given levels;
    - Faster Flight, meaning she can maintain range;and
    - Significant attacks located outside her Multipower. This is the clincher. Gravitar has 60 STR TK and 50 STR TK Area Effect located outside her Multipower. She can conceivably do a Multiple Power Attack and hit Gigaton simultaneously with *both* of those *and* one of her other attacks (18d6 EB, 4d6 RKA, +40 STR TK, a 9d6 NND against which Gigaton does not possess the requisite defense, etc. Beyond that, although her write-up does not specify, given the special effect in question (gravity), I'd be inclined to rule that Gravitar's attacks go vs. PD, not ED... and as such, Gigaton's Absorbtion doesn't apply.

    Mind you, Giggy doesn't suck - he's pretty sturdy overall - but he's badly outclassed against Gravitar.

    Yep, Gigaton's best response to encountering Gravitar is "retreat and report back to Dr Destroyer for new instructions," assuming its an unplanned encounter.

    If he was specifically ordered to fight her, best bet is "bend over and think of England."

    So what the heck DID he spend his 1000 points on?

    He didn't spend 1000 pts. He spent 678. That's his point total. Where are you getting the 1000 pts?

    Ooops. Horrible misread. (reversed the pt totals)

    Why is there the slightest doubt about who wins then?

    Re: Gigaton vs Gravitar - who would win?

    Well, there are some characters built on high point totals who can be trashed by characters with much lower point totals. Sometimes that reflects one character being more- or less-efficiently designed, but sometimes it reflects the difference between a character who is maxed out for combat and one who isn't. For example, Teleios has a higher point cost than Gigaton, but if the two should happen to meet in combat, I'd bet on Gigaton every time. Teleios is a vastly more interesting character, and much more competent outside combat, but most of his points are put into stuff that won't directly impact a fight.

    Thanks for the analysis. I had misread Gigaton's point total and thought he was built on more points. All I can say is "DOH!"

    The 4E Gigaton could have made the fight more interesting, though; he had that nasty Darkness field (defined as blindingly intense light) which might have thrown Gravitar off.

    Probably not much, though. Gravitar has too many area attacks.

    Very clear mismatch. Now Firewing vs. Gravitar might be closer, or Firewing vs. Gigaton could be an excellent slugfest.

    Re: Gigaton vs Gravitar - who would win?

    I don't know. Firewing has greater firepower, better defense, higher Speed, and faster flight. Plus, depending on how you interpret it, his damage shield might burn right through Gigaton's entangle.

    Gigaton's best shot would be to soak a few hits to boost his strength, and then somehow close to melee with boosted strength. I don't like his odds, though.
