Can we get a board icon summary?

I keep thinking I understand the little icons, but I keep finding out that I misunderstood them.

I tried the FAQ and couldn't find an icon guide in the topics. Is there one available somewhere?

-DG, who is about to go search google, but who figures others might be interested.

    Me Too

Particularly the 27 flavors of envelopes on the left.

Just look at the bottom of the any main forum page. It lists all the envelopes there.

Anybody figured out the meanings of the shaded or not shaded hero symbols on the main board level?

If the Heroman is green, it means there is a new topic in that forum. If the Heroman is shaded it means no new posts have been put in the forum since you cleared it.

Apparently, if you are at the thread level, green means the poster is on-line, while shaded indicates they aren't.

The green arrows actually, I think, refer to new posts. Otherwise they would always be there for threads you've posted on.

I think I figured out that the black dots on the envelopes at the thread list level indicate that you've posted to that discussion.

Maybe once I get as many posts as Monolith I'll think this is obvious stuff too.

Actually, I was speaking in reference to the Green Heroman icons, not the arrows.

This is cracking me up! You've all succeeded in confusing me, and I helped design some of the buttons.

Well, not all the buttons. Just the ones that are green and FRED-like. Heh, when Ben asked if I'd help make the buttons I said "Suuuuuuuure!"

Then he sent me a folder of buttons to alter. There were like 12,000 of them. So I did like twenty and called it a day. Those twenty are about the only ones I understand too. I'm happy as long as I can alsways find the "post reply" and "new topic" buttons.

    That reminds me...

    GAWK AT MY BUTTONS!!!!!!!

I'm not even sure I am in the top 10 posters. There are posters here breaking 1,000 posts already. Of course I get all of mine outside of the non-gaming forum, but when I start to get too far behind I just start a flame war.

As far as the icons, if the HEROMAN on the left is light-colored, it means there are posts in that forum. If the HEROMAN is dark-colored it means there are no new posts since you were last online.

When you are leaving the message boards, go to the bottom of the main page and click "Mark All Forums Read". When you do that all the HEROMAN icons will go dark. Then when you come back to the boards the HEROMAN icons which are light will tell you which threads have had posts in them since you left. Saves time from searching everything.
