    cross words about the crossword

Will Ben (or maybe Steve) please check out:

I'm convinced there's been a foul-up with the crossword; it looks like lines have been "doubled over," rather than stretching left-to-right as much as they should.

    I'd appreciate a fix.
A soft answer may turn aside wrath, but for stupidity you sometimes need a stick.

Hmm, probably something to do with making that an ascii page. Hard to read, at least for me. (The one from the pdf is nice though. )

Each "square" is made of six ASCII dots. Ignoring the numbers, here's what the grid should look like, with X's being black squares and O's being white squares.

    O O O O X O O O X O O O O
    O O O O X O O O X O O O O
    O O O O X O O O O O O O O
    X X O O O X O O O X X X X
    O O O O O O O O X O O O O
    O O O O O O O O O O O O O
    O O O O X O O O O O O O O
    X X X X O O O X O O O X X
    O O O O O O O O X O O O O
    O O O O O O O O X O O O O
    O O O O X O O O X O O O O
    O O O O X O O O X O O O O

Ah, so each "square" is two lines high?
Even so, it can't be made to match what you've got -- unless you're version should have had the third line repeated.

Yes, that's right. Each square is three dots across and two dots down.

My mistake. The third line should indeed be repeated.

The corssword has radial symmetry, so you should be able to turn the puzzle upside-down or at a 90-degree angle, and get the same result.
