USPD Reprint?

I thought I read that the original USPD will be reprinted with errata corrections and additions but I also see there is a USPD 2 coming out in early '05. Is the USPD 2 a separate product than the reprint or does the USPD 2 contain everything in the original USPD?

USPD 2 contains only original material, plus updates of USPD 1 powers that are changed by the alterations to the core rules.

OK, but do you know if the original will be reprinted? I missed it the first time.

My understanding is that it will not be. The next printing will be the updated print. The update is occurring because HERO is no longer using their previous printer, and so the new printing is essentially the same as printing a new book -- requiring new bluelines, approval, etc. I could be misremembering. I just checked FRP Games, my usual source, and they list only the reprint. But you might find the book at a local shop or if you know of other online vendors that haven't sold through yet.

Yes, we're going to reprint the USPD. However, we’re no longer doing business with the company that printed it the first time. That means sending it to another printer — which in turn means essentially paying to print it all over again. As long as we’re going to do that, we can tweak it a bit, so here’s what we’re gonna do: (1) correct all the errata and typos we’re know about as of when we reprint it (probably end of this year, early next year); and (2) revise any powers that need revising in light of 5ER.

“Hey!” you say. “I don’t want to have to buy the book all over again to get the new/revised stuff!” Well, have no fear; we’ve got a solution for you. At this point the Online USPD is large enough that we’ve decided to add a book to next year’s schedule: The UNTIL Superpowers Database, 2005 Update. In the back of USPD05 there’ll be an Appendix containing all the USPD powers that were altered in the second printing. So, since you know you’ve got to have USPD05 anyway (it being so very cool and useful and all), you can get the USPD revisions in addition for no extra cost.
