    Help with DC Calculation

    Howdy!

I am somewhat confused about calculating DCs for HTH attacks with advantages. Do you add the power advantages on top of the attack with STR added in?

If you have a character with a 60 STR and a sword defined as a 2D6 KA (4D6 w/ STR) with AP.. what would the DC be? I calculated 18... is that correct?

Also, what happens when you buy a Hand to Hand Attack with autofire? Does your full Strenthy add into the damage or is it reduced by the autofire DC?

Example, you have a character with 20 STR and purcahse a rapid attack defined as +8D6 HA with Autofire. Would the autofire attacks be 12D6 like I think or something else?

    Thanks!

Not quite sure what you are asking, however...

    1. 2d6 AP would be (in my eyes) a 6 DC attack. It takes 7.5 STR to increase by an additional DC (due to the advantage). Thus, the full attack is still only 12DC.
    2. The STR used cannot exceed the DCs of the HA, and thus 5STR adds 1DC
    3. The "rapid attack" would be 12d6 AF after STR (and assuming it was AF5, would cost (6+2)*5 = 40 END.
Hope this clears things up a bit. I believe the DC definition talks about the number of dice, not the active points.

    Re: Help with DC Calculation

If the final attack damage is a 4d6 Killing Attack with Armor-Piercing, that is indeed an 18 DC Attack.

    Re: Help with DC Calculation

For all attacks the final Damage Class is based on the effective Active Points (including damaging Advantages) divided by five. So, in your example, a 2D6 HKA (30 base points) with Armor Piercing (+1/2 Advantage) would be 45 Active Points. Raising it to 4D6 with STR adds (requiring STR 45) would be the equivalent of 90 Active Points, for DC 18 as you calculated.

In the case of a Hand-To-Hand Killing Attack, STR bonuses would be prorated for Advantages, as described above. In the case of a Hand-To-Hand Attack, though, STR adds directly to the Damage Classes of an Advantaged HA without prorating, no matter what the Advantages on the HA. So, for example, a 6D6 HA Armor Piercing (45 Active Points) would require only STR 30 to be boosted to 12d6.

There are differences for this between heroic and superheroic games, though. I know it's all confusing, but the document by Geoff "Talon" Speare that I'm attaching below lays it out much more clearly:
