PBEM Ad: After the Burn (redux)

Since the first one went down like Paris Hilton when the fleet comes in....

No one knows what caused it. Theories? There's as many theories as there are survivors. Probably more actually. Terrorists? Computer error? The Fundies felt it was time for Judgement Day? Who knows? All anyone is of is that on October 25th, 2005 the world as we knew it came to an end in a flash of nuclear fire. Several detonations ripped threw major cities all over the world. In the ensuing panic, several exchanges took place only adding to the monolithic death toll. Luckily (to be loose with the language) the madness stopped itself before a full scale nuclear war came about, blackening the skies and turning Earth into a lethal radioactive Hell. But civilization, the trappings of 10,000 years were gone in a less than a day. Billions of people died and the survivors, the unfortunate few faced a desperate life centered on scratching what they could out of the debris and trying to rebuild from ashes.

You are one of those survivors. Your world ended just over a year ago, but you refused to give up. Skill, determination or sheer providence allowed you to survive what some call "The Burn". Its now up to you to forge your destiny in this new world, to rebuild and reclaim humanities dominion over the Earth. Will you be a savior or finish Mankind's fall into the abyss? Its up to you.

After the Burn will be a Heroic Level Champions Game featuring human character struggling to survive in the wake of a global Holocaust. Mature themes will possibly be explored including but not limited to graphic violence and sexuality so all players should be over the age of 18. I'll be accepting up 7 players for this game. Character creation is as follows:

    Base Points: 100
    Disadvantages:50
Normal Characteristic Maxima assumed for no points
    Technology "Free" but see notes
    Skill Roll maximium:15-
    Speed:4
    Combat Value:9 with Levels
    Restricted Talents:Combat Luck, Universal Translator
Restricted Skills: Defense Maneuver higher than level 2
    Skill Enhancer: 1 per character
Restricted Perks: Money (useless in the setting but feel free to get it)
Restricted Powers:All but Luck (But I am open to negotiation but specific non powered powers. Talk to me)
Optional Rules:Hit Location, knockdown, bleeding, wounding, impairing/disabling, increased lethality (+1 to Body Multiplier on Killing Attacks), Long Term Endurance, Encumbrance

Morality and Tone: This game will be darker than what you are used to from me. Morality will be shades of gray, even dark. Civilization is gone. Some cling to its tenets, but many do not. You have to strong to survive. Sometimes you have to cruel. The PCs are Heros in the since they skilled and competent, but they aren't necessarily. nice people. They also have no particular script immunity either.

Notes: Technology is free in the since it doesn't cost character points. What you find, repair or build you can keep. What you start with is determined by resource points. All character start 50. These can be used for weapon, armor, vehicles, equipment of note (You can be assumed to have normal clothing, some survival goods, etc). Basic tools and the like are 2 points of your pool. Exceptional tools are paid for as Skill Levels with a Focus.

Submissions: Character submissions should have full backgrounds, descriptions and personality write up. Included in your background should be some details on where you were when the Burn occurred and how you survived until this point. It should leave off with your character somewhere in the Midwestern US. I will be accepting characters until next Saturday at midnight.

    Nice turn of phrase.

BODY _multiplier_? I think (and hope) you mean that on die rolls for BODY damage the possible results are 2-7... right? (1d6+1).

So would a Hitman be going too far?
    How about a Serial Killer?
[Yes, dammit, those WERE my first two concept ideas.]

Say... is there anywhere that didn't get nuked? I mean, I don't think there's any missiles pointed _our_ way, for example. (I always thought that would be a nice twist in a post-Apoc world: A relatively minor and isolated country emerges from the Ashes to greatness... Although the thought DID first come up reading Day of the Triffids). (This is jsut curiousity, btw).

On the hit locations tables, the xBody number is increased by one.

    Bad day?

A hitman, fine, a serial killer. Not so much.

Heh, that would be something worth looking into the game.

    [/qupte]

    So headshot = x3, arm = x1.5?
    Ouch. THAT is increased lethality.

Not so much a bad day, as me thinking "So. Who in the real world would have the ruthlessness and experience in killing people to be able to do the PostApoc thing straight away.".

Serial Killer was probably a step too far.

So. Hitman. Hrm. This could work well...

Heh, that would be something worth looking into the game.
    Peachy.
