Does DoJ have something like the RPGA for Hero?

While ready all of the threads on the RPG industry downturn and the pains there in, I wondered why people still by D&D with all of the other games out there. One of the reasons seems to be visiblity at game stores. Local games stores in the northern virginia area have the RPGA show up once a week to teach people D20 and D&D. No other game systems seem to do this, nor have a system for it.
I know Wizards of the Coaster have it for Magic: The Gathering, but Ihave never seen it for Vampire, etc.

What I am getting at is, would it help the visibility of the Hero System if DoJ created a teaching type campaign and kit, so that authorized GM's could hold a weekly or monthly, DoJ approved teaching session to bring people a Hero experience?

Just some thoughts outside the box, I hope, from a Hero System fan since 1990.

Well, there is the Legion of Heroes, but it's not the same as the RPGA. What with the juggernaut that is WOTC backing it, they have a lot more official support than the LOH can hope for. On the other hand, if someone wants to do an event, there is a legion of fans here on the boards that can help out with ideas and write-ups and whatnot.

Any Fantasy HERO game can be improved by dropping the Hand of Doom Tavern into it.
Any game can be improved by using the HERO system.

There used to be a FAQ about the Legion of Heroes program here on the website, but the links appear to be broken.

As I understand it, the Legionnaires are HERO fans who volunteer to run demos at comic and game shops and other sites and events. When people register with/join the Legion they get access to adventures that Steve Long and others have penned specifically for that purpose, and sometimes IIRC they may receive Hero Games items as prizes to be given at those demos (don't quote me on that last one, though).

There is a separate Legion of Heroes forum on the Discussion Boards, where Legionnaires share their experiences. Not having had the time to participate in the Legion myself, I'm afraid I have no more firsthand info to share.

    Guys,

Thanks for the heads up. I am looking into joining the LoH's since the game shops in the area have a large supply of Hero System products, and there are a lot of RPGers at these stores. I hope it will work out, as I would love to have a weekly demo game for new players and older players who want a heads up on what is new to the system. Again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
