    Millenium City... Salt Mines?

So... after the Battle of Detroit... whatever became of these?

(I haven't read all of Millenium City... but if it doesn't mention this, it certainly is a cool concept to play with in a superhero world.)

We kept them in our campaign. And used them to set up a "fallback" HQ, since our regular HQ is publicly known.

    Re: Millenium City... Salt Mines?

One of the things I have always had fun thinking about ever since I was a kid was what if people built an underground city in the Detroit Salt Mines. I didn't read the linked article but from what I was told when I was a kid, there is more than enough room underneath Detroit for an underground city complex to be built down there. A Millenium City GM could have a ton of fun with the idea.

I just remembered that I had been meaning to post this link to the HERO boards. I have been using it for planning my Buffy game sessions, set in Ann Arbor, MI which is about 20-30 minutes from Detroit. This site could also be really handy for a Millenium City GM: <a href="http://www.davidaspitzley.org/MythicDetroit/">Mythic Detroit</a

Angst Re: Millenium City... Salt Mines?

Salt domes like that are common in the upper midwest (in northern Ohio a salt mine is so large it goes under Lake Erie, and is the source for most road salt for the Chicago area). A battle like that in Champions with Dr. Destroyer would have NOT effected the mines that much or at all. They are deep undergound and in a stable rock formation. If the rock formation was NOT stable long ago water would have dissolved the salt way, and this has not happened.
Ideas for game, what about a new tunnel is built that revels a tunnel complex. Who built it? It must be old for the salt has deposited millions of years earlier... Are these tunnels for aliens, underworld dewellers, or something completely different????

    Re: Millenium City... Salt Mines?

Ah, yes, the salt mines, another thing I learned about from this hobby, as our game is set in Detroit - not Millennium City, but my world's version of Detroit, more monster-ridden, more toxic, more mutant-friendly, and even less populated. Home to the Justice Squad.

The JS' base is in the salt mines, and so is one of the cells of Magneto's (now badly fragmented) Brotherhood; it's not even all that far, one could drill a few hundred feet and get from one to the other! The JS got the idea to locate there after facing the revived Purple Hat Gang which operated out of there.

Hey, really!?!? Buffy is in my Detroit, she's actually from the nearby suburbs, I may have put her in Ann Arbor or Dearborn, now I'm spacing, but she and the Scoobies now operate directly in the city, leasing space from one of the PCs in Sihn-tek, the high-end biochemical corp owned by that PC. Willow is friends with lemming's character, Spectrum.

    Re: Millenium City... Salt Mines?

My Buffy campaign is set mainly in Ann Arbor with new characters as the PCs. The PCs are almost all U of M. students. Set after season 7, Buffy and Dawn are in Italy, Giles is in England, Xander recently went missing somewhere in South America (future plotline) and Willow and Kennedy are in Rio.

The current plotline has to do with vamps in Detroit, so I've been doing my research.

Cool. You're welcome to avail yourself of Detriot info at http://www.realschluss.org/x-champio.../x-detroit.htm - much of it is accurate or just slightly exaggerated, though there are a few pure additions. Feel free to ask. Note the resources at the bottom of the page - sadly many of those links are dead, though, I"ve noticed.

I'd concur that they're too deep underground to have been affected. Now, if the same type of thing happened in a salt mine that stored oil reservers, well, that would be a totally different story.
Good-bye, and thanks for all the fish.
