Okay. In philosophy today there was a rather interesting argument involving a hypothetical person who had never seen colour.

This led me to the idea of someone born allergic to colour, so they were raised in a specially constructed enviroment without any colour.


I kinda want to work in powers somewhere. What kind of powers match a colour allergy well? Perhaps some kind of ability to "scramble" colours around them, so that to anyone looking at it in black and white it looks normal, but in full colour it's a chaotic confusion?

Are you talking about a disadvantage with allergic to color? Or Harnessing a color allergy for the bettermant of man-kind.

The former seems easy enough.

The latter I see a special visor of some kind. Simliar to what Cyclops has to filter out the color. Maybe some UV or IR perception. Straight-up powers could be an illusionist. Might work better for a villian. Or a mentalist. His inabliity to function in a colorized world made him turn in-ward into a mentalist.

Of course you could go corny and have him animate old movies to fight for him. But that only works in a certain campagin

Just riffing here...

Invisibility in a variety of forms is an option. Flash is good. Transform is a must, if only to change color to black&white. Change Environment might work for that under some circumstances. INT or EGO Drains to simulate confusion. Maybe even Illusions, Images or the like.

I'll think on it more next break.

In art class they teach you that Black is the Absence of color and white is the Presence of All Color.

So start with darkness powers that include all visual spectrums (IR, UV, etc.)

Just to clarify:

The character is allergic to colour as a disadvantage. Put them in a room with a wall painted green and they get sick. They nearly died on birth, getting saved only by having a clean white sheet dropped on them and the doctors realizing that stopped the attack.

They get around in the outside world not merely through a special visor, but with a full body suit (possibly power armour, although I really do want some innate powers in there - actually, the power armour idea is pretty cool...)...

Check out this site for a good reference to the meanings of colors and their possible effects. It deals with chakras and the like and gets a little pseudo-mystical, but it should be good for some ideas.

Hey, I thought it would be a bugger if someone injured him and he started bleeding. as his red blood would activate his alergy.
What about making him transparent, like glass. then colour passing through him would cause the injury as it is impure (white is pure).

But from what you said about wearing a suit, whats the point in having it if your going to work around it?? When is it ever going to come into play?

definitly images, so he can change what people see, and create "black white" holograms to confuse people

I understand that a human being can perceive more detail in a black and white image than in colour, soif this character is colour blind (wears lens to make him so) than maybe he has better visual perception.

For powers, there's invisibility advantage as well as shadow, wind, telekinetic, force, mental and spacial awareness that comes to mind. I would think Spacial awareness (along with radar/sonar) would be something needed for the person to get around. Perhaps flash defense, unless there truly is no port-hole for the person to se out of.
