Transformation: Your HERO character in a D20 Setting

Help me sort out an idea I have floating around in my little brain box.

    Three steps:
    1. Design your HERO character as you normally would.

    2. Buy Transformation (Major). Instead of using BODY, use EGO.

    3. Invert the numbers on your sheet. Values remain the same, but Dice Mechanics become 'roll up' with appropriate Bonuses.
    A. Characteristics are unchanged. If you have a 25 Strength in HERO, you have a 25 Strength in the D20 Setting.
    B. PD=Fortitude Save, ED=Reflex Save, EGO Score becomes Will Save.
    C. OCV=BAB, DCV=AC
    D. Skill Rating becomes a Bonus. HERO KS 11-=D20 System KS12+ Etc.
    E. Powers work as their equivalent in the D20 System.
    F. DC of Magic: Base of 10 add 1 per 10 CP. Thus, a character's spells that has a VPP of 60/30 with the Cosmic and NSR adders or 150 points; would have a DC 25. Option: Find an equivalent D20 Spell and add the level to the DC.

    Bad idea?
    Good idea?
Debunk or Improve please. And thank you.

Even if your character won he would still be playing dnd.
It does seem like an hybrid of dnd and hero to me what is the purpose of the idea?

What plot? I find D20/D&D converts better when I look at the fluff instead of the crunch. It is just my personal opinion, but I think Hero does D&D better than D&D does. At least the mechanics line up better with the descriptions to me.

IMC, we have quite a few things going on at once:
    1. We got a group of HERO characters in a setting using HERO rules.
    2. We got a group of M&M characters in a setting using M&M rules.
    3. We got a group of D20 characters in a setting using D20 rules

    et al.

Well, I've made it a bit more challenging. When one individual/nation et al tries to conquer or dominate an individual/nation/world etc they try to not only impose their will, but their way-which includes their metaphysics. I.E. the game mechanics.

Obviously, some like one set of rules over another; so it is fun to mix it up a bit. Obviously, horror elements such as insanity, possession and split personality come into play.

Having a simple game mechanic can mean that the forced alteration can be changed, but a small amount of power or a small quest may be necessary.

'You may feel like you are loosing your mind, resist!' Is my reply to a player who prefers a D20 character over a HERO character and vice-versa.

I dunno... the Jihad To Destroy Barney would have a better chance of detroying The Purple Menace.

I would also include Spycraft and its assorted modern stuff if I was doing conversions. Of course, one has to take a good look at the base systems to ensure they sync up...
<The Rose> I also have the PS: Human.
<Lethosos> We all do; it's just some that have a low PS level.

I like systems where the characters in the official fiction written for that system, can actually be played in that system.
(and to be pedantic - where the world in the official fiction can be accurately simulated in the system).

Re: Transformation: Your HERO character in a D20 Setting

I may be way off base here,

but I was thumbing through the online store a few hours ago (like yesterday or somesuch). I believe I noticed a plot-book (I don't know what to call it-- adventure? Seed? Module? Do they still call them modules?) for Silver Age Sentinels and Champions. It mentioned including conversion notes (or possibly a 'system?'). SAS is d20 (sort of); that may have what you need to do what you want.

Now that's if you're doing d20 supers, of course. I would think that if you're d20 was Heroic that it would most likely fall apart a bit, but I can't say for sure; I haven't seen it.

    Good luck with your project.
Wait a minute, Son! I forgot to tell ya: there's somethin' in that car! Somethin' special!

    True.

I am not looking to 'convert' one set of rules to another. I am trying to find a way to show one rules' set can be used in any setting. In other words, the game mechanics are adaptive enough to mix with any genre or any game design.

The character isn't being changed or converted, but merely adapting to a new circumstance.

The transformation is a show of versatility.
