My brain must be locked up by the snow DC is getting...
I know its in the book, but I just can't find it. What is the formula for calculating KPH or MPH from inches of movement?

Movement times SPD times 0.37 = MPH

I don't think that is in Fred I know there was a chart in the BBB. But you can take inches/turn time .3 to get KPH.

It's fair... you covered that Metrics stuff and I got the real measurementsOriginally posted by Agent Escafarc

I know those are the conversions from the BBB, but I was doing it by hand one day and it came out a bit different.
We know the following
1 turn = 12 seconds
5 turns = 1 min
300 turns = 1 hour
1" = 2 meters
1000 meters = 1 km
X = inches per turn
Here where I start to make some assumptions along the lines.
Inches per turn * 2 meters * 300 Turns = meters per hour
meters per hour /1000 meters = km per hour
At least that seems right to me, I'd like to know if I've messed up some basic math again.
Uh, that should be either meters/turn x .3 or inches/turn x .6 to get KPH.Originally posted by Agent Escafarc

Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. -Marcus Aurelius

If a character moves v inches per turn, then their velocity is:Originally posted by nblade
Inches per turn * 2 meters * 300 Turns = meters per hour
meters per hour /1000 meters = km per hour
(v inches/turn * 2 meters/inch * 300 turns/1hr)*(1km /1000 meters) =
(600* v inches* meters * turns * km )/(1000 inch*meters*turn*hr) =
(600* v * km )/(1000 *hr) =
600/1000 * v kph =
0.6 * v kph
I have an Excel spreadsheet that someone posted on their website. You fill in your Speed, inches in Running, Flight, Swimming (combat and NC) and it tells you the MPH & KPH, IIRC. The file is on my PC at home so I will post it to this thread later this evening.

Excellent, at least I wasn't as fuzzy on my math as I thought.Originally posted by feywulf

I didn't realize that I couldn't insert .xls files in a post. If anyone would like this file they can send me a private message. I can e-mail it to them. If anyone can suggest a way to post an .xls file ( I don't have a website here) let me know.Originally posted by aylwin13

Well, it's taken me a while, but with MisterVimes' assistance I have finally been able to post the speed calculator I spoke of. I have even added the KPH conversion to it. The Excel file can be found here. Thanks, again, MisterV.Originally posted by MisterVimes

P.S. A big D'OH for me. This file is already available in the Free Stuff, but this version has the KPH converter already on it.
