    Duplication character...sort of

I have always liked the idea of a character who can duplicate, but I've always hated the accounting involved in tracking END, STUN & BODY for even a handful of duplicates. So I recently made this character Infinity. He creates duplicates and shortly thereafter re-absorbs them so that he has many powers with a duplication SFX, but no actual Duplication Power. The character has a fear of losing control of his dupes which helps to explain why he never lets any last more than a few seconds. I played him for the first time in a new campaign this weekend and he went over very well, thought I would share him with you all as well. Enjoy...

    well done!

    odd timing, too.

I was just this very evening toying with the idea of a similar character: duplication as SFX rather than an actual power: autofire punches and such as that.

Now I've got some serious inspiration!

I like the 'Hit the Wrong Guy' power as well. Am I correct in assuming that if the attack missed by the five bonus points, the SFX is tagging the wrong duplicate? Or is that for any miss?

Very intriguing ideas. I just happen to be working on a duplicator right now, and while I will still be doing the duplication power, you have some very nice ideas for consideration as well. Neat!
Mrs. White: I, too, am being blackmailed for something I didn't do.
    Mr. Green: Me too.
    Colonel Mustard: And me.
    Miss Scarlet: Not me.
    Wadsworth: You're not being blackmailed?
Miss Scarlet: Oh, I'm being blackmailed all right, but I did what I'm being blackmailed for.

I have a "Duplicating Powers" section in UMM that has many of these sorts of powers. Great minds think alike, soft minds run together.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, "Hit the Wrong Guy" works exactly the way you thought.

    Thanks Steve,

    When he earns some XPs I plan to give him some other stuff I couldn't afford like;
"There it is!" PER Roll bonus
    "Helping Hands" Extra Limbs
    etc...

feel free to include any of these in the UMM, I can't wait to see it!

And when you get up to it... you can then slip in an actual Duplication power with a Mind Control aspect to create a "scout" that you don't have to worry about.

But good write-up. I've been toying with a "Legion" character myself--he does use a Duplication power, but that's my desicion.
<The Rose> I also have the PS: Human.
<Lethosos> We all do; it's just some that have a low PS level.

Some cool ideas, though I think the Man on the Inside power doesn't quite work for the characters concept. I know how it conceptually works, 'cause I've seen Jammie Madrox do that sort of stunt before. But if the character creates a dupe on the other side of a prison cell, then the only way the main characgter is actully getting out of the cell is if he lets the dupe absorb him... does he trust his dupe to do that with such a strong phobia?

I will say that the character's general lack of skills is kinda odd as well, considering his DNPC Uncle is supposed to be a retired UNTIL agent. The most basic traing package for an UNTIL agent has about 35pts worth of skills and Martial Arts (UNTIL: Defenders of Freedom p57). I think he wouold have picked up more then just KS: Superhuman World.

At the moment, I'm toying with Clairsentience (visual /audible) for this purpose--- Okay, I'll make a dupe appear over there, and he can look around....

Already did the 'extra limbs'-- seemed like a no-brainer after the Autofire strikes.....

ok, I've done Duplication Heroes and I can so understand the book keeping headache it can create. I will with your permission use him in a game I'm running. If not then I will use the idea.

I totally agree. This is a rare exception for characters I make and it comes with an explanation, The campaign this character was built for has seen the end of an era of heroes (Hzeel invasion) and an emmergence of a new breed. He is meant to be a teenage boy, who is venturing out as a hero for the first time. If his Uncle knew what he was doing, he wouldn't approve so he hasn't taught the boy anything. Also growing up with an idealized, boyhood understanding of what his parents did gave him the impression that he didn't need to know anything but how to control his powers and who the major players in super-villainy were.

Also, he has yet to use the Desolidification in-game, but when he does need to, I intend to make it an RP opportunity, possibly even an EGO Roll to see if he can bring himself to try it again (he has done it once, hence the power).

    --------------------------------------

For those of you wishing to use him, feel free, goodness knows I have stolen my fair share from these boards over the years and thanks for the Rep.
