By the way, I do think this will become a popularity contest instead of a look at the stats, but we shall see, also we can assume that all the 4th edition characters and before can have a 100 xp bonus over starting (IE all should be considered to be built on 200+150)

Well, as I don't have Gargoyle, or the "Team Defender" stats, I agree a lot might be biased.

Frankly, I'm not sure who'd win between the old Champion Universe Defender and the current one. Those ariel martial arts must surely be handy.

If by "Old CU Defender" you mean the one that appeared in the original Champions Universe supplement, he would win hands down. That character was around 450 pts., and his armor was faster, much stronger, and had more powerful weaponry than any other version of the character.

I do not really see Gargoyle as being a good comparison against the 3 Defenders of the other universes. A better "showdown" might be to have Goliath, Obsidian, Behemoth, and Ironclad. That way you have all the same "types" of characters fighting.

Another comparison could be Flare, Quantum, Quantum, and Sapphire. Or possibly Marksman, Seeker, Seeker, Nighthawk.

Just on "cool factor" alone though, I would choose Gargoyle.

If the old Defender is the BBB version, not the old CU version, then the 5th Edition defender has a good chance of winning over the other versions. He's got a 16d6 Dispel to use against their END Reserves. No juice, no fight.

Gargoyle, I have no idea. Are his stats on the web anywhere? I'm thinking there were some for his team, but can't remember if his were on there.

Gotta go with Gargoyle, though really Marksman should have represented the team here.

Planning on using Marksman for the Seeker/Seeker/Nighthawk/Marksman fight. The link above lists the fights as planned

To expand on why I chose Gargoyle here, I feel that all of the defenders are (at least to a degree) Flying Bricks, and as the Guardians don't have any PA characters I had to go with gargoyle as the character most similar to the Defenders

Its actually a pretty good match, unfortunately, the Seeker, Seeker, Nighthawks group now must match wits with the Marksman, it won't be pretty.

I guess I'll vote for the new CU defender, though i like the NM defender too, i mean kinda neat to have multiple people though if I get to build the old defender to make him even with the new one i would put my money on the old defender, since i can totally rock with 100 points to add on to him...

    Gargoyle wins.

The guy is so powerful, you don't have stats for him.
