(inches per phase) * (speed) * 0.375 = mph
Archon
Just once I'd like to meet an ancient horror that I could kill with a gun!
Hmm. Archon is close:
(5 * 60 * 200)/(2.54*12*5280) ~= 0.3728
Where do these #s come from:
5 = rounds per minute
60 = minutes per hour
200 = centimeters per game inch
2.54 = centimeters per real inche
12 = inches per foot
5280 = feet per miles
This results in the 0.3728, known as Quant's constant in some gaming circles.
Multiply Inches per round by 0.3728 to get miles per hour. Or if you want to be really anal, go with the whole formula.![]()

Heres a trick. (SPEED x Velocity )/2.6 (2.6824)
its fairly close

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.

Calculator Commando Time:
Lemming gives two numbers. I just ran his formula through the calculator, and he got it right the first time... 0.3728 is the proper outcome, not 0.3278.
Grant Morrison on Batman: "I love the fact that you can delve into a fictional character like this and get so much depth and so much history. He's kind of alive. He's been around longer than me and he'll be around when I'm long gone, so he's kind of more real than me."
DOH! That's why we're supposed to show our work.Originally posted by Haerandir
