Well, there is a saying, "evolve or die".

Who says they aren't popular now? I don't think DOJ shares that POV...
It is unclear why the bear, which was wearing ice skates at the time, attacked Mr Potapov. The bear was later shot by police. Deadly attacks are rare in the country's circuses, which often train bears to wear skates and play ice hockey.

Maybe they weren't popular because there wasn't anything produced for them.

    Re: The 2007 Release Schedule

Maybe MitchellS has some secret access to DOJ's records and somehow knows more than they do what to do with the info.

Sorry MitchellS, I don't really want to rag on you, but you go through this every time. We realize you want more Champions product and feel you know better how to run DOJ. Or if that's not your viewpoint, it comes across that way. Speaking as someone who has had access to information you don't have on a couple of issues in the past, all I can say is that it only comes off as uninformed complaining and conclusion-jumping. Before you say you can only work from the info you have, maybe we should just agree that without the complete data, trying to form a business plan is futile at best.

Can we give this debate a rest this year?

PS. Again, I'm not trying to provoke you, but I'm really tired of the pointless arguments that this produces.

MitchellS just wanst to complain that the core isn't Champions anymore. If we really want to end this we just ignore his arguement and continue to buy the stuff WE like.

    Re: The 2007 Release Schedule

As I indicated in my post on the 2006 schedule, the lower quality artwork in several Hero books has somewhat dampened my enthusiasm for Hero products. Hopefully, by 2007, the art standards will have come back up to at least where they were for the first few years after DOJ took control (I think the slide in art started early in 2005). If so, it’ll bump some of the borderline books up a category. I just took a look at the art in the PDF preview for The Ultimate Metamorph and it looked pretty good, which bodes well.

    Definitely will buy:
    Lands Of Mystery
    Villains, Vandals, And Vermin

    Probably will buy:
    Champions Of The North
    The Ultimate Energy Projector
    Crews, Cops, And Cabals

    50/50:
    Post-Apocalyptic Hero
    Pulp Resource Guide

    Probably will not buy:
    Aarn
    Scourges Of The Galaxy
    Enchanted Items

    Almost definitely will not buy:
    Lucha Libre Hero

Really, it is the core - in that it is the genre that gets the most number of books. Even the Ultimate Whatnot books, although presented as being genre neutral, are really geared much more to Champions than anything else.

Champions is the flavor of Hero I do most often, and I'm generally pleased with the quantity and general quality of the Champions-usable offerings each year. What I like to see more? Yes! At the expense of the other genres? No really, as I like that stuff also (and, since I don't do exclusively superhero stuff, much of it does get used - just not as often).

Nope, not a joke, April or otherwise. In fact a number of us are quite looking forward to it.

    Re: The 2007 Release Schedule

I've got to admit I'm a little surprised at the negativity towards Lucha Libre Hero. Now, while I haven't seen any Lucha Libre movies, everything I've heard about them makes it sound like a genre I'd enjoy and I don't even like wrestling. From the impression I've gotten, the genre has a lot in common with both pulp and superheroes, two genres that Hero has always handled quite well. But do we get fans of those genres looking forward to at least taking a look at a book dealing with what could be considered an off-the-wall approach to the same themes and conventions? Okay, a few. But what we seem to mainly be getting is a bunch of knee-jerk reactions about how it must be a joke or how Hero is stupid to publish such a thing. Now, it might end up being a bad book (doubtful since Darren and Jason are passionate about the genre and that often results in good work) and it might end up not being to your liking but shouldn't people at least take a look at the book before deciding whether they are going to purchase it or not?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great people are looking forward to it but is this a replacement for Horror Hero? Maybe its just the fact that is seemed to come out of left field.

Sorry if I am an old curmudgeon. Sorry I seem to be hung up on 'traditional' genres. As for the joke thing, I am sorry. I honestly thought it might be a joke. I am not familiar with Lucha Libre movies and my only contact with the whole 'masked wrestler' thing has been my son's Mucha Lucha cartoon viewing. I would have reacted the same way if I'd seen 'Pokemon Hero' or 'Yu-Gi-oh Hero' on the schedule. And as for taking a look at a book I have no interest in . . . since the only way I'd ever get to do that is to buy it, like I said very tiny chance. That is one problem with only being able to purchase a product online. I can't thumb through it and let the product change my mind.

Wonderful to hear that from the board!

I've got a brand-new company currently in negotiations with DOJ and nothing's been finalized yet, so I can't say anything other than that things have gone smoothly so far and unless something unanticipated occurs there's a very good probability that there will be another Hero System (TM) licensee in the near future.
