If there are multiple characters to consider, should we pick one and vote for just that one, or vote for all appropriate answers for all active characters?

I'd click the answers for all characters, then break it down in the post.

Legend fights to protect the weak from the Evil strong.

Style fights to protect the innocent, and for Justice.

Flesh Gordon is in it for the babes, but if he can also protect the innocent at the same time, groovy.

Jake the Troll - doesn't actually 'fight', yet, per se. If he ever did, he'd probably be fighting for Truth and the Catholic worldview.

Shinji Miromoto - to resolve kharma and to follow the 12-fold Path, which comes pretty close to "protect innocents".

Icon - Emma is a closet Superman fan, and as such DOES fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Her powers make her essentially a low-level (250 point flying brick) version of Superman anyway, and she actually figured out how to manipulate her energy field to shoot laser beams from her eyes. Yeah, they're just a 2d6 EB, but hey! Laser beams from her eyes!

Grant Morrison on Batman: "I love the fact that you can delve into a fictional character like this and get so much depth and so much history. He's kind of alive. He's been around longer than me and he'll be around when I'm long gone, so he's kind of more real than me."
