Wanted to post this here (figured this is the best place for it) so others could get some mileage out of it. Rather than a lengthy discussion, let me just say it is the city of heroes character generation components as a stand alone download.

When the character generator for CoH is available as a standalone app, the makers of CoH will release it/announce it.

This isn't pirated. It is freely available form NCSoft Korea. If there is a problem with foreign sites then I apologize, but this is officially released by the guys at NCSoft.

It's "released" by a rogue group in Korea that does not represent the interests of NCSoft.

Ask yourself this: why would NCSoft not put the link on their own site, given that this is something that many folks over on this side of the world have wanted for some time?

In fact there is truth on both sides of this issue, so let me start by saying I agree whole heartedly with Hero not wanting to post this link and get involved in a possible legal morass. Having said that, the stand alone app was originally posted by NCSOFT on thier Korean board, then later the link was taken down when they realized it was causing problems with legal questions. The reason it was not posted here in the US is due to ongoing litigation between NCSOFT/COH and Marvel Comics. Until this issue is settled in the courts NCSOFT made the decision to withhold the app. Once this issue is resolved NCSOFT has announced that it will in fact be made available to all. However in light of the fact that it has not been resleased here, and has been removed by the company from its Koren site, I think it is only ethical and HERO like to wait until it is officially released.

For some however the genie is out of the bottle as there are now several persons who have chosen to distribute the app via various unauthorized and legally questionalble means.

So for me... I wait in anticipation.
