    Gemini Ascendant Campaign

EDIT: Revised this entry to reflect the ongoing nature of this campaign. It has gone through some rough patches and yet still keeps moving forward. Whether you are a current player, former player or just curious, please post any comments or questions. We check this thread daily and will happily respond to any posts.

EDIT: ghost-angel has graciously hosted some of the logs from our campaign on his website. You can at least get an idea of how things are going from there.

There have been some pretty cool materials created by the players of the Gemini Ascendant campaign. Here is a list of some the stuff that they posted here.

    Current as of 09/18/09 - Page 241

Thanks. It's going to get better as I reorganize the menu structure and clean up the weapons charts. I want to have the structure in place before I start adding any "crunchy" content.

After missing last week's game (I hope y'all got together and had fun without me), I'm really amped on getting back into it.

Not as much as I would like to have put up, but I am in the process of changing that now.

Getting to them. No really. I am almost done with a major edit of the left side menu that should hopefully make things a little easier to read. In addition, I'm finalizing the weapons charts and hopefully working on a history timeline which will tie the setting into some sort of future earth history.

My only problem is that my eyes start loosing focus about every two hours of html editing and the NVU editor that I was using to WYSIWIG it, screwed the whole codebase on the weapons' pages. Having to fix that is no mean feat.

The good news; time. For once, I have a ton of time to work towards the web page. Once that is caught up, it will be easier to focus on the campaign itself. I have established some basic formats that I will be implementing here soon. I have to jump back into windows to use HD to create exports of the character sheets. I think I might actually complete everything I want to in time for the game on Thursday.

    Back to work.

    Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

Sorry about the Logbook delays. I've had a slight problem over the past few days and only just got out of bed tonight.

It seems a large swarm of fire ants decided to move indoors to escape the recent heavy rains... and, for some ungodly reason, decided to camp out in the padding of my wheelchair. When I sat down a few days ago, they attacked like they really didn't care I was there first. End result... heavy swelling on my thighs and back, and a fever that almost put me in the hospital. My wife counted close to 6 dozen bites in a sparse area... near the center of activity, they were too close together to count separately.

Anyway, I think I'm over the worst of it. I can hobble around almost as well as I did before, and I've got so much calamine lotion on me that I keep sliding out of my underwear.

I did manage to post an update to the logbook. It's just a minor addendum to the message just prior to it, so it's under the same game date with a ".0002" extension.

    There is more coming.

Ok just out of morbid curiosity...

Were these real fire ants... like the meat eaters from Arizona where they are about 1/2" long and a single bite raises a welt the size of a walnut and burns like hell, or these those teeny tiny little things that everyone in Texas is terrified of that about 1/8" long and while they have a painful sting really need to gang up on you to get the job done (we call them piss ants)?

In either case I hope you get to feeling better, as a fellow diabetic I know how things can quickly get out of hand. I have a sore on my back that has lingered for months.

Oh my! I'm real sorry to hear that Dale. I hope things get better soon. Get all the rest you need and worry about the Engineer's Log after you get better. I'm beginning to wonder if our group is cursed or if this is just normal. Funksaw get's a tree in his attic, you get stung by ants, my car get's stolen, Prestidigitator has ISP problems. Almost like waiting for the headsman's axe to see what crops up next.

Well here's to you getting better.

Hey I just went and read your entry on the trip to the hospital with Cowboy. I think you could book on our adventures . You look at the storyline from a different angle then I do and it always seems to give insight to our actions that I don't see until I read your logbook. Plus some of your views just make me laugh . Keep it up but don't push yourself . The physco monkey says thank you .

    Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

Well, let's see... where to start.

    Starwolf-
I'm not sure of the species, but they're about halfway between the two sizes you mentioned. These were about 1/4 inch long and red, and the resulting wounds/welts are about as big around as a nickel... with a little blister in the center about the size of a match head.

Burns like a sumagun... in fact, I have an ice pack in my shorts as I type this. The commonly accepted remedy in our area is to scrub the welts with a paste of baking soda (making sure to break the blisters). This neutralizes the formic acid and helps to relieve the itch and burning. It seems to be working quite well.

As for wounds that won't heal, I got ya beat. I have a wound on my left shin that goes all the way to exposed tendon... and we've been working on healing it for three years. Believe it or not, it IS getting better. But, with the combination of my almost-zero circulation and the movement of the exposed tendon, getting skin to grow across the wound is almost impossible. After three attempts, we've given up on skin grafts. So, we're having to depend on the edges slowly encroaching on the center.

Fortunately, none of the ant bites were low enough on the leg to be in the low circulation zone, so I don't expect any complications from that.

    Nolgroth-
We may not be cursed, but we're damn sure goin' through a spell of bad luck!

And, what's this about Funksaw getting a tree in his attic?!? Did I miss something?

    Solron-
Giving people fresh insight and making them laugh... a writer couldn't ask for higher praise. Thank you.

I have a lot of story seeds lying dormant in my mind... I may actually get one to sprout completely someday.
