And though it is about a day late and less completed than I wish for, there is a pretty significant update to the web page. Take a look at the linky in my sig if you don't have it saved.
And Solron, there are most of the explosive type things posted. The tornadium write-ups you already have, so I'm not too worried at the present time.
The good news is that I like the way the site looks and works a lot better now. I don't look at it and get the feeling I should change something. That will make it a wee bit easier for me to post actual content updates. I was worried that I might post something and then have to completely change it to fit any new look I decided on. Now, it's just a matter of posting the good stuff as time and inspiration allows.
Well, it's about 4:15 am here. I need to sleep. See y'all tomorrow.
There but for the grace of God go... ALL OF US!
I always think that things could be worse... and if you are at the bottom thats a good thing because the only way left is up.
As Solron and I both can attest to, "Pressure makes diamonds", OK I now return you to your regularly scheduled game discussion.

I like the new format! It makes things much easier to navigate. One thing as the site develops would it be possible eventaully to add links to racial packages/templates, and equipment prefabs in HD format. Or possibly host them in the Hero vault and post a link to the vault. It would make characters and equipment much easier.
On another subject, I am making SLOOWWW progress on the equipment, but it is progress.
Ghost Angel is da bomb! He is making good progress on the HD to ORPG export template. The formatting is coming together, but there is a problem with getting ORPG to read/recognize the resulting xml file from the export. I have gone over the export line by line and can't find the problem, and GA is running a MAC and has had issues with Python and getting ORPG to install. This has made progress difficult as he can't test things from the ORPG end, so he does some coding, then posts the HDE file, I download it and do an export, then open ORPG and try to add the exported file as a node. So far at this point I get a "Import Failed: Invalid content or node" message. Then I communicate the problem and we tweak, rinse and repeat. BUT we are making progress.![]()

Hmmm... a thought just occured. I wonder if Prestidigitator would be more cogent/and or willing to jump into this issue of the export template. I think his coding abilities are probably better than mine at the moment, and that makes it more likely he might spot the problem easier than either myself or GA...
Presto... are you there buddy... pal... (whimper) please![]()

The HD template isn't putting any "header" info into the XML is it? I was just browsing through the game tree and there is no indication of where one tree entity ends and where the next one begins. It simply closes the last tag of the previous entity and opens the first tag of the next (in this case the "nodehandler" tag). Please forgive me if you have already went over this.
If you would like, I am familiar enough with XML that maybe I can also help out.
I was thinking the same thing about the HD files myself. I really need to squeeze the HD v3 costs into my budget so I can get a Linux version. And thank you for the kind words about the site.
I can't tell you how much I understand where you are coming from. That detail work is gritty and painstaking. My respect for Steve Long and all those that create that kind of detailed content has grown considerably since I've taken this project. On another subject, I am making SLOOWWW progress on the equipment, but it is progress.
To Ghost Angel; thank you. I can't say how much I appreciate the work that people, not even involved in this game, have poured into making it a better experience.Ghost Angel is da bomb! As I said above, if there is anything I can do to help.....
I will send you the export template and the original node I sent him to model the template from, along with the offending output file. As I stated it looks ok in form but ORPG chokes when you try to "insert a file" on it.

Okay, found a few syntax problems already; That did it. I fixed those two parts and was able to load the character into my Game Tree with the insert file command.
- The tag on line 40 should read out <cell/>. It currently is only <cell>. [Edit: That's for the Constitution characteristic.]
- The ECV cell is missing a </cell> tag. Line 61
[Edit 2: Noted under the Characteristics section that the column for notes is labelled "points." Not a big thing, as the cost calculation and everything is there as well.]

You are the man!
I have a couple more tweaks that need worked on before it is a working node, but getting it to import is the major hurdle.

aha! looking at all your bad luck ....
I blame you guys for my computer eating itself!!
OK, not really. I made a poor judgement call trying to get ORPG installed. The only thing i use Python for is Civilization 4. And when that wouldn't start, well, we just can't have that now can we.
I'm back, I have fixes to make, I may even retry installing ORPG (techincally, the issue came with wxPythong installation).
I'll post progress as I get it. . .
who do I kill to get in this game?
Audio-Bomb - A Music Blog, updated every weekend
There Are No People Here - tumblr blog of urban photography
SETAC - Bloody KAs!
That's it.
Never played it, though I have been looking at FreeCiv to test the concept out.[/quote]OK, not really. I made a poor judgement call trying to get ORPG installed. The only thing i use Python for is Civilization 4. And when that wouldn't start, well, we just can't have that now can we.
I had problems with that too. My luck was that Ubuntu makes it easy once you figure out how the software repository system works.I'm back, I have fixes to make, I may even retry installing ORPG (techincally, the issue came with wxPythong installation).

Update on Server. Prestdigitator's Playground is still not appearing in my Game Servers window. I have enabled Shattered Mountain (figured out where the server_ini.xml is stored) for us to use tonight. Same room name and same password. We are in business.
After missing last week's game, I'm more than a little excited about getting back to the action. In this issue, everybody dies! Just kidding.(I so hope my words are not prophetic.)
Anyway, I'm being a lazy bum and hanging out on Shattered Mountain. See y'all when you get there.
