    Icon16 1001 Arabian HERO Adventures

Hey. I haven't posted in a quite a while but I'm in the middle of ressurecting a Turakian Age campaign and a friend of mine has shown a lot of potential and interest in running an Arabian Nights HERO game but is dry for inspiration. He's a fan of the Prince of Persia franchise and 1001 Arabian Nights but beyond this he doesn't have much else. I've purchased a copy of GURPS Arabian Nights and let him borrow it but I know he doesn't have much time to read byond skimming game supplements. He practically has to build two PCs.

His world is homebrew with a Hinduism variant as the main religion (there is no Islam) and the most popular elements of Arabian fiction thrown in from Caliphs to Sultans to deserts and dijinns regardless of when and if they appeared in history or fiction. It has magic but uses the magic rules from the Valdorian Age but other than that standard Fantasy HERO 75+75. What he really needs is quickie adventure ideas that he can develop and use. By helping him, you'd be really helping out both of us since I rarely get to play HERO, I almost exclusively run it. Him running would not only allow me to play but give me a much needed break.

Well, there's a semi-annotated index of Arabian Nights stories here: http://mfx.dasburo.com/an/a_index_commented.html

You might also check encyclopedias of folktales, and adapt them. Some good ones online are:

Folktexts: A library of folktales, folklore, fairy tales, and mythology
    http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/folktexts.html

    American Folklore: Famous American folktales

Britt "Tetsujin28" Daniels - We remember.
    Andy Matthews - We remember.
Jack "Deejay" Wilson - We remember.
Dale A. Ward - We remember.

    Re: 1001 Arabian HERO Adventures

I did a 1001 Arabian Nights adventure for last year's Genghis Con. Ghost-angel and BigDamnHero will have to tell you if it was any good or not. I can post my notes and character designs if you like.
If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

Thanks for the help guys. I don't the game will run anytime soon, but you've given me a great heads up in case I decide to pick it up instead of the current GM to be.

    Re: 1001 Arabian HERO Adventures

I totally lost track of this thread. I was going to post the 1001 Nights adventure I ran for a local con. It's called "The Desert of Fire." Hope you enjoy.
