    Re: Hero Book Reviews

Getting back into book reviews. . . I'm going to try a pace of 1-2 a week and stick to it. No promises as to what will come up in the queue when, it's all based on the time I have dedicated to giving a book the reading it deserves.

The Echoes Of Heaven/The Throne Of God - Fantasy Hero Campaign Setting from Final Redoubt Press

I can say I have read Stronghold, PS238, Traveller Hero Book 1, and some of the HeroPlus PDFs, so those should be coming pretty quickly down the line since they just need editing and polishing up.

    Scourges Of The Galaxy

A good solid book of villains for a Star Hero campaign. Definitely worth the buy.
(I'll get to Atlantean Age and Monster Island ... before the end of the year I hope)

    Re: Hero Book Reviews

    Finally!

Atlantean Age - a good solid Epic Fantasy setting, doesn't feel like superheroes with swords as some worried given the power level. Epic Heroes vs Epic Villains, fantastic monsters, amazing battles. A nice powerful Fantasy Setting to play in.

Monster Island - Detailing the Qularr invasion, their giant monsters, and all the organizations that have taken up residence on the island, and what they want. It's actually a little too busy, but still a pretty cool setting book to use in a Superhero game.

I started reading Urban Fantasy Hero this evening as well. I'm all the up to, uh, page 8. I'd say something like "This weekend!" but - as you can see my track record on that recently is abysmal. So you know, Urban Fantasy Hero Review Soonish!

    Re: Hero Book Reviews

Yay! Urban Fantasy Hero review is done!

Awesome book, can't go wrong if you're new the genre, and even if you're not it's chock full of ideas to use.

I finished reading Adventures Into Darkness this past weekend, and will get to writing that review this week (best take on Lovecraft in gaming I've ever encountered, hands down). I owe Mattingly a review for a novel (Afterthoughts) he sent me (I started reading that today on my lunch break - the included piece of police tape was a nice touch and my new bookmark), and have The Book Of Dragons PDF sitting by waiting in line, though if I take too long it might eat me (and the book on the way...).

And my last Hero order included a card for +1 XP from Foxbat... I'm trying to spend it on Speed Reading, but my GM says I need some more XP for that... anyone got some spare I could have?

    Re: Hero Book Reviews

    Alright, finally caught up.

The Book Of Dragons - seventy-five dragons, plus nine more giant creatures. How could you possibly go wrong.

    Some hero related stuff:
Adventures Into Darkness - Superheroes + Lovecraft, an excellent resource for Heroic Horror, or just plain weird gamin.

And some completely non-hero stuff from our friends at Blackwyrm Games (say hi to Dave Mattingly everyone, and support small press):
Afterthoughts - a psychic detective thriller novella.

and that's the week in reviews.

    Re: Hero Book Reviews

More reviews. And it's about time. My time was lost while Steve borrowed my opinion for SETAC and 6th Ed. - which I can't wait to see all of.

But before that happens... I have more books to review!

First up a duo from Blackwyrm Games:
Bauor: Strands Of Death is a fantasy courtroom thriller novella. And I really enjoyed it - and I don't normally like anything with the word "fantasy" in the description.

Foxbat For President! - I love Foxbat, seriously he's a great master villain, and this adventure has the potential for a lot of fun.

    And finally, from D3 Games:

Kamarathin - The Kingdom Of Tursh - A Fantasy Setting that breaks a lot of fantasy molds and provides a nice setting to play in. Definitely a good addition to your shelves.

And that brings me to the last set of reviews I must complete - with any kind of luck (HA!) I'll have the following done before GenCon next week:
    Lucha Libre Hero (AWWWW YEAH)
    Thrilling Hero Adventures
    Book Of The Machine

Review One of Two... Character Creation, is done.

Pending post to RPG.Net, it will go up at Geek-Do later this week as well.

Meanwhile; Hero Forums Post is up in the Products Forum.

    Long Review Is Long.
I should have Volume 2 completed and edited by the weekend I hope.
