How were the FH Weapons built?

    Hi Friends,

I'm working on building a Fantasy Hero game for my friends as my Victorian Hero campaign winds down, and I thought I read that there used to be a prefab hosted on this site that contained the weapons from Fantasy Hero. If that's so, it's not there now. I was undeterred by this since I just figured I could write the prefab myself over time, except that when I tried to write the first Axe entry (Axe, Battle), I found that I couldn't get the active points cost to equal the entry in the book by just having a 2d6 HKA.

Am I missing something about the build? Alternately, if anyone has or could point me to the weapons prefab, I'd be grateful.

    Thanks!

Might be that you didn't count in the Reduced END (0 END; +½)?

At the bottom of the weapons table, there's a short list of the Advantage and Limitations used for all weapons: 0 END, and OAF, Real Weapon and STR Min.

    Yep, that did it.

So does anyone know where I can get that prefab? It'd still save me a lot of data entry!

In the Fantasy Hero Character Data Pack available in the online store.

As to how the ACTUAL FH weapons were built...

Most were hand forged from hand made steel or iron and hammered in a forge. Throw in some forge welding, a grinding stone, and some hand carved hafts, shafts, and handles, and there you go.

(some assembly required, warrior not included, not responsible for damges caused by usage against orcs, dragons, mages, or other fantasy creatures and characters).

    Corsairs Lair
Samantha Arken: Wow you have a lot of guns...
Wade McCode: Heh... Yeah, bad guys keep trying to kill us, but we keep surviving and collecting their weapons... It's a hobby

Actually, I have the FH character pack and it's not in there. Was I mistaken about the prefab being hosted in the Free Stuff section? (I know not everything's in there that was present in the old site, I was just hoping someone had the file for this one.)

I believe there are a number of prefab packs to choose from at the Hero Designer vault.

The prefab that's hosted in the Free Stuff is the list of Melee Weapons from the 5th Edition Rulebook, not from Fantasy Hero.

I never got 'round to doing the whole list from Fantasy Hero, due to its sheer size. Plus I didn't think it would be appropriate to do that large a list (from a second book) for Free Stuff, where the list from the main rulebook was OK.

Have you had a look at the prefabs on the website for the software itself though?

Yeah, I've saved myself some time on ranged weapons and miscellaneous equipment, but the main melee weapons list is not present there unless it's somehow in the RTF weapons prefab in spite of my having looked inside it and failing to find the weapons.

I think I've finally worked out how to build most of these weapons so that the totals work out correctly, but there are a few entries that I'm still having trouble with. See if you can get the points to come out right for the following entries and if so I'll be curious to see if I omitted something from my build.

    • Hammer, Small
    • Pick, Military
    • Pick, Small
    • Club, War
    • Dagger/Dirk
    • Main Gauche (I just couldn't get the hand armor right)
    • Sword, Small

I'm already into the Polearms, so I don't think this'll take forever thanks to some judicious cutting and pasting. I'll be asking the DOJ crew if it's okay to post/host, or if it's too meaty for that. If it's okay, I'll pass this along when I get it done.

Re: How were the FH Weapons built?

Small Hammer: HKA 1d6-1, Increased STUN Multiplier (+1; +1/4); Reduced Endurance (0 END; +½); 17 APts; OAF (-1), Real Weapon (-1/4), Strength Minimum (STR 8; -½); 6 Rpts.

    Book sez 21 Active/8 Real Points . . . Hmmm.

I've got some weapon prefabs done in the equipment download on my site:
