    My next article(s)

    Just in case anyone cares....

"Maguspolis" -- magic cops versus monsters. My favorite anime genre has to be the supernatural monster-hunting police force. Stuff like Hellsing, Silent Möbius, Geobreeders, Phantom Quest Corp, Hyper-Police, and so on. This will cover the concept and set-up, and hopefully offer some sample enemies and characters.

"Look! Up In The Sky! II": The sequel to my previous article, this time covering (mostly) German aircraft of WWII (mainly because they make for good pulp-era super-science inventions).

"Panzerblitz!" (or... "Actung! Panzer!") -- Assorted armored vehicles from 1400 to WWII. This will concentrate on the 'weirder' ones, specifically prototypes, such as the Maus, which had 240mm armor and a 150mm main gun, with a 75mm co-axial, and the Russian Tsar, which looked like a gigantic tricycle. Also geared towards Pulp Hero players, since the tanks are great for those world-conquering types.

I really like this concept, and you know the genre well so I'm sure it will be great ; but if you'll forgive an attempt at constructive criticism, the title/city name is a little ungainly looking and awkward to say, and also a bit misleading; it doesn't sound like the focus of the genre is on the "magi" or magicians, but on the monsters and the magic-bolstered grunts who hunt them. If I might offer a few alternative suggestions: how about Arcanopolis ("city of secrets"), or Theriopolis ("city of beasts")? Perhaps a name with non-Greek roots, like Jaegerstadt or Jaegerburg ("hunter's city" or "hunter's castle")?

Or something else we'll come up with. "Maguspolis" was "Magic Police" in Latin (IIRC).

Ah, I see what you were trying to get at. Magus is indeed a Latin word for "magician" or "priest," but polis, although the ultimate root of "police," is actually Greek for "city" or "city-state."

Hmm... is there a Latin for "police"?

I think the title Maguspolis still works giving Lord L's translation: city of magic.

And BTW that's the one of these three I'd be most looking forward to also.

I pretty sure there is no word for police per se as there were no one in charge of police matters exclusively.

Usually thy used soldiers(Miles) or Guards (Gustos)
for any matter regarding enforcement of the law(Lex) in the Cities.

Hmm... you could call the group/article Lex Magi. That has a nice ring to it.

Closer might be Tribunes. They had the rights of sacrosanctity -- could protect any person from any other -- and legal rescue, and could exercise capital punishment, but were also later enabled to veto any action of anyone.

In effect, they were a combination of cop, judge, and civic official.
