    Icon16 The iron midget

I'm trying to make a midget brick that's made of steel and I got some questions. This is new to me, I'm trying to figure this out by myself.

    1. His iron form can't be turned off. He still eats and breathes ect. Do I just take the extra mass and damage resistance and just call the steel body a special effect?
    2. He sinks like a rock in water. He can walk on the bottom, but is slow and can drown. How much is this worth? Do I have to come up with some way of rust prevention? (paint?) or just ignor it?
    3. Is badly vaulnerable to magnitism. (think of Magneto ing Colossis) Is this a susceptability? or a vaulnerability? or both? Worth?
    4. can brick tricks be put into a multipower? (thinking yes, but not shur) can you only have one trick in a multipower, untill later when I get some more points to build more tricks?
    Thanks

    I'm a man,
    and I can change,
    if I have to,
    I guess.

You got it. I would also take a look at the mass templates in the appendix for some guidelines and a suggestion for a physical limitation related to weight.

    2. He sinks like a rock in water. He can walk on the bottom, but is slow and can drown. How much is this worth? Do I have to come up with some way of rust prevention? (paint?) or just ignor it?

This sounds to me like you want to buy his swimming down to 0 and maybe add a physical limitation to represent that he sinks to the bottom. As far as rust, that's totally up to how you envision your concept. It sounds like more of a roleplaying point to me.

    3. Is badly vaulnerable to magnitism. (think of Magneto ing Colossis) Is this a susceptability? or a vaulnerability? or both? Worth?

This sounds like a Vulnerability to Magnetic Attacks to me. Please not that you can take this Vulnerability seperately for BODY damage, STUN damage, and other effects such as Magnetic Entangles.

Can brick tricks be put into a multipower? (thinking yes, but not shur) can you only have one trick in a multipower, untill later when I get some more points to build more tricks?

Yes and yes, though if you only have 1 trick I wouldn't bother with the slot cost until you have a second slot (i.e. paying one slot cost is just a waste until you have 2 or more powers).

    I hope that helps, enjoy.

Background/History: Franky Fairfax was born to be something spectacualr, his parents were trapeeze artits for the permanent circus in the Circus Circus casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite being born with dwarfism his parents treated him no different, always telling him "Franky, you can do anything a big person can do and don't believe anyone who tells you different." He showed amazing agility for a little person and with his parent's training made his trapeeze debut at the tender age of seven. His skill on the trapeeze became well known and between the ages of 9 and 13 he and his parents toured the country with the Ringiling Brothers Circus. Two weeks after his 13th birthday he returned to Circus Circus for a much anticipated performance. As he stood high above the crowd Franky began to feel a little ill, but being the consumate showman grabbed the trapeeze bar and swung out. It was in that instant that his powers kicked in. His skin turned in to a dense rock like material and the trapeeze wires snapped under the weight. The crowd gasped and screamed in horror as the little figure plummeted towards the ground, tore right through the safety net and imbedded itself into the ground. The crowd stared in stunned silence as paramedics rushed over only to see the Franky sitting up and then stumbled to his feet. The crowd cheered and Franky's parents rushed over and embrace the boy. Franky stayed with the circus despite being unable to do the trapeeze anymore he soon learned that his natural agility remained and he was able to perform all sorts of acrobatic tumbles and flips. His new form also possessed immense strength and he became not only one of the acrobats but the circus strong man as well. The ringmaster of the circus dubbed him Little Rock and his fame soon speard throughout the country and he began appearing on all sorts of television programs. When he turned 18 Franky was tired of the circus life and decided to be like many other of the world's ubers and use his powers to fight crime and help people. He spent sometime doing so in Las Vegas and then wandered the country for a few years. Most recently he was offered a position with the Denver Defenders and honor he gladly accepted.

Personality/Motivation: Franky is a happy outgoing young man and he loves to go out and meet new people. He tries to attend every little people convention he can as he sees himself as a role model for them.

Quote: "Time for a Little Rock & Roll"

Powers/Tactics: Little Rock posesses superhuman strength & durability. His rock like body gives him incredible resistance to harm and to such things as extreme temperatures, radiation and pressure. His rocky skin has not affected his natural agility and he can still perform a variety of tumbles and other acrobatics.

    Campaign Use: Mini-Brick

Appearance: Little Rock is a young man in his early 20's. Being a little person he stands just uner 4 feet in height. Since the manifestation of his mutant powers his skin has become composed a grey rock like substance. His costume is a blue tank top and shorts. He also wears a leather weight lifting belt, sandles and bracers on his wrists.

This is an example of a Midget "Brick" I made for one of my players for my M.I.B. CSI style game. You can always change the SFX of Going Platinum to reflect your ability to have Steel like skin.

Background/History: Imp Steel was a rock star of profound musical ability, Imp was not his real name just a stage name he went by since his agent thought it was a great idea. Everywhere he went he drew Heavy Metal crowds far and wide. He was famous for his time and even did tours with various Heavy Metal Bands. He was handsome strong, and short. He was all about the fans, and he did have fans, lots of them. One day 1989 a odd looking fan showed up at his door before a concert, he was used to visitors before the concerts but this was not an ordinary fan. Once he opened the door to this fan began changing forms in front of him. It had a third eye in its head red skin and gaping maw filled with teeth. Its hands had suction cups like a squids in the middle of its hands. He thought it was a stage prop at first until it grabbed him and began to suck the life out of him. That’s when his powers finally kicked in. He suddenly felt invincible as he fell backwards through the dressing trailer pulling the creature with him. The creature no longer had him but instead Imp had it, and began crushing it little by little, breaking first its arms then crushing it’s body as if it was a doll toy. Just before it died the creature turned back. Turned back into what it looked like before it was the monster. Then there was the screams as people flocked to the area, “he killed him!” someone shouted. So Imp ran, he just ran, until the M.I.B. showed up. As he turned a corner a woman appeared and she said, “wait it was not your fault we saw what happened, quickly come with us if you want to live.”

Imp’s life changed at that moment, he knew his life would be different somehow. It took a while for him to understand what it was that tried to kill him. He felt like a freak for destroying that dressing trailer, and killing that creature with his bare hands. What had he become? “It was a Changling, but its dead now, we are tracking the other two right now” said another agent over a radio. Imp left that night with the M.I.B. he had not known about the secret war of the Changlings or how they were hunting people with extraordinary abilities or even exactly why they had begun hunting him, but what he did know was that he could never be Imp Steel again.

Imp joined the M.I.B. first because all the babes were hot, and he was still a celebrity of sorts. He was not truly interested in the war against the Changlings or protecting mankind against the aliens or extra dimensional monsters that found their way into our world, or the threat of advancing technologies. Imp was all about the travel to various countries, the celebrity status and the free coffee. Then after the recent event in Siberia and realizing that his friends were getting older, his celebrity status was fading, plus he had never truly aged much since 1989 he decided it was his time to fit in, and take his place within the ranks of the M.I.B. or at least be serious now and try to make a difference in the world. He was special and the Changlings were still out there devouring people with special abilities just like him. Who better to protect people with special abilities than one of their own?

Personality/Motivation: Imp wants to be taken seriously now. After years of just sitting on the sideline and making M.I.B. mixer appearances he has chosen to fully join the team on the front lines. He has seen first hand how Changlings have destroyed lives, his life in particular. He wants to contribute to honor the memory of many of his comrades that have gone the way of old age, whereas he has stayed young. Imp is a big fan of Special Unit 2 but does not want to be thought of as the gnome of the group.

Quote: “It’s time to Rock and Roll old school style!”

Powers/Tactics: Imp has an ability called Going Platinum. Essentially it’s one power linked to several powers at the same time. Imp’s density increases to an astounding amount. His durability and ability to resist damage is also quite astounding when he goes platinum. One odd thing about his power is that his overall weight does not seem to affect the ground he walks on. Instead of making cracks in the ground or falling through the floor he just moves around as normal. To date it’s a physics enigma as to how or why he can do this.

Campaign Use: Imp is the muscle man of the party.

Appearance: Imp is about 4’8” tall and about 200 lbs until he goes platinum. He has green eyes and black hair; he has a great personality and sense of humor. He is attractive and known as a chick magnet so most guys are a bit protective of their women around him. Imp is clean and always in style. When not on the job he wears his trademark Heavy Metal leather duster.

I believe the term you're looking for is "iron little person."

    Re: The iron midget

I'm going to give him the superhero name Iron Midget ,it's a play off the name of the movie... Iron giant (disney?)

I used the mass template in the back of the book, I took hardened and damage resistance. he weighs 700 kilo or 1544lbs
I also took the half sized size template... mostly, but not the weak part, it just didn't fit. cost 1pt.
When I finish, I'm going to post him here. I'm doing this longhand and would appriciate if you could look for mistakes.
He is a midget, not a dwarf. dwarfs (usually) have normal size heads and torso's with stunted arms and legs. He is proportional unto himself. Like a hobbit.
He ownes a small (no pun intended) scrap metal company. While visiting a steel mill on buisiness, he took the tour. A badly maintained catwalk collapsed, dumping him into a pot of molten steel. the workers dumped the pot in a effort to recover the remains, not expecting any. they found a glowing hot statue. His life force had pulled the metal into a exact copy of his body to inhabit, Giving him superhuman strength, durability.
I gave him a publicly known ID, because a midget is realy kind of hard to hide in a big persons world. Cop: "Witnesses say the person who pulled the workers out of the colapsed crane was only 3 feet tall. How many little people are there in town?"
    And watched by the government.
I gave him a 5 pre. I want the badguy to laugh, just before I rip his leg off and beat him in the head with it.

I would give him defensive pre then so that a presence attack does not send him to the corner (+ 15 Pre only for defense -1/2)

    Ok, next problems...
I want to give him a super punch with double knockback. I looked at the example on page 257 and it sez...
Mega punching: does X 1 1/2 knockback (+1/2) on 60 STR. Total cost: 30 points.
I ran it through my calculator and came out with 90 points. 60x(1+.5)
    What am I doing wrong?

Also.. I gained +2pd and +2ed from the mass template. I took damage resistance then hardened everything. Does the extra pd and ed from the mass add to the points used total? Or do I just add the points from the mass to figure out the hardend cost then subtract 2 poinst each, since it was paid for inside the mass template?

Mega Punching: 90 points is the cost of the the STR (60) plus the cost of the extra knockback (30) If you buy it as a naked advantage it costs you 30 pts.

    Thanks
Well he heals damage doesn't he? And rust is damage that happens slower than normal humans generally heal. So he might get some cosmetic damage if he's in the water a lot but it flakes off like dead skin. Or if he wants to look good he can scrub it off with steel wool, an rotary polisher etc.
I would say that being vulnerable to magnetism is a vulnerability or physical limitation. Maybe both. As a Phys. Lim. I'd say Totally Incapacitating, Rarely) because you rarely find someone who can completely paralyse you.
You can have a power and later buy a new multipower and put it in (using the points from the original power to buy the MP). After all it's still a points legal character isn't it?

It would be better for me if I could put it in my multipower.
I'm more inclined to go with the double, but I'll write them out and see how it goes, then decide.

Ok, next problem...I'm thinking about taking some judo. Can I add other attacks that aint on the judo list? I took Judo when I was in the Navy, and lots of attacks are just a type of legsweep. I learned that being short with a low center of gravity is a real advantage (I'm 5' 6"). it makes sweeps easier for me and makes me harder to throw. Any way of giving that size advantage? A judo multipower?
I got a lot of ideas but everything depends on the points.

If I gave him "healing only with access to a welder", it would be a big disadvantage. I'll have to look it up.
But I like your idea better, but it depends on the points.

His secret ID is Buster Poindexter? Sweet!

I generally like what you have here, but I think the 31 BODY might be a bit overkill.

The vulnerability to magnetic entangles is a clever idea, but how does that work exactly? Extra body on the entangle, extra def, or both? You might even want to expand it into magnetic 'effects' so that magnetic TK grabs are included.

I've always liked the tiny dense brick routine. Nice work

Miss Scarlet: Oh, I'm being blackmailed all right, but I did what I'm being blackmailed for.

Just picking nits here, but Iron Giant was actually a Warner Bros. release, IIRC. However, the movie's director, Brad Bird, went on to make two more movies that are among the very best stuff that Disney (via Pixar) has put out in the last 10 years: The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

Great character concept, by the way. I may just steal (no pun intended) him for use as a villain. I'll change the name and some of the details, of course.
