Decided to post a new thread announcing my game, as I'm not sure folks would read/respond to a longer, dated thread.
I am a GM seeking players in the Greater Seattle area for a campaign set in my custom world. I have constructed a fairly elaborate home-brewed world for Fantasy Hero, and would love to find 5-7 solid, dedicated players. My current group has collapsed due to scheduling issues and low commitments levels, and so I'd like to get a fresh start with a new group that can commit to making games on a fairly regular basis.
I'd like to set a fairly firm twice a month gaming date, and instead of constantly shifting the date based on people's schedules, I'd prefer instead to have an extra player or two so that the game can go on even if we're missing a person or two. I find the game loses momentum if there are long delays between sessions, or the dates constantly change.
I'm not picky about location. I'm moving to Renton at the end of this month, and so can go North or South (and East and West) readily. I'd also be happy to host the game as well, though whatever is most convenient for the group of players is fine by me.
I've GM'ed a million and half DnD games, but have helmed only 3 Hero sessions and played in 5 or so, so I'm not super-sharp on the finer details of the rules like I am with DnD, but I've spent plenty of time learning them and so feel entirely comfortably running the game.
My games are generated with an eye toward balance - an equal mix of story, combat, role-playing, and strategy. I work hard to maintain world "consistency". I like to build heavily in advance, rather than winging it too much - for instance, the PC starting area has at least 10 well-rounded NPC's the players can interact with fairly realistically (they are not simply cardboard cutouts, and have secrets and motivations of their own). I like to think I construct my games with both a deep and interesting main storyline, but also am willing to deviate or completely change the focus of the game if the player's are interested in something other than what I've constructed. There's a lot going on in Natoxia, and so there's plenty to do, and half the fun for me is developing a game and world that the players will enjoy. What's Fun > all other considerations.
I've spent an absurd amount of time constructing the world and fine-tuning the game, and generally do about 4-8 hours of work on the game between sessions - hopefully that gives you an idea of how dedicated I am.I've also written a 29 page player's handbook I can distribute to the players that details world background, playable races, character creation guidelines, deities, and other details. I'm currently deciding precisely how I'd like to manage magic, and players would likely play an active part in making that decision based on general consensus.
Interested players should respond here, or send me a PM and I can send you the player's handbook for the gameworld to give you a feel for the setting. I'd be happy to meet up in person as a group or one-on-one prior to the game to assure interests match up, etc.
I also enjoy playing, so if someone wanted to take a turn at GM'ing after the first chapter of my campaign was finished (probably three months per chapter, or so), I'd be fine with that, too.
