    Spell conversion help...

    Hey y'all!

I'm busy converting my long-running AD&D game into HERO (after considering it for years...) =:) So far so good, but one thing has me absolutely stumped, and my players aren't any help. One player, the party's wizard, has a favorite spell -- Leomund's Secure Shelter -- and I can't figure out how to convert it into Fantasy HERO. =:/

Not converting it isn't an option. Hardly an adventure goes by where he doesn't think of a way to make use of it. Darned clever players! =;)

Essentially the spell creates, out of thin air, a small stone cottage, granting all those things a small stone cottage would grant -- protection from the elements, defense against hostiles (thick walls and a barred door), a fireplace, cots to sleep on, a table and desk with chairs to sit on, and the like. The cottage lasts around 8-10 hours or so, then vanishes.

Can anyone help me think of some good ideas for this? One caveat -- the power (or powers) have to cost 75 points or less. I was thinking some combination of Change Environment with Force Wall, but there's got to be a more elegant way, right?

    Thanks, y'all!

    Bill.

You might could do it with entangle, since it now allows you to create things. I'd just handwave the table and chairs and stuff. The only potential problem is that for 75 points it'd be hard to make one that's as resilient as the original sounds.

Used something like this for a Dwarf that had small crystal figures the he used to change real life....

Use the Summon skill....add and subtract disads and adv as desired....the cost defends on how inpenetrable the building is.....

In the Rules FAQ it states you can Summon a Base. Just buy the spell as a Summon: 30 point base with all the required Limitations. Problem solved.

    Here...give this a look over...

    <table border="0" cellpadding="0"><tr><td align="right"><b>Cost&#160;&#160;</b></td><td><b>Power</b></td><td align="right"><b>END</b></td></tr><tr><td align="right" valign="top">63&#160;&#160;</td><td><b><i>Leomund's Secure Shelter : </i></b>Summon 200-point Stone Shelter, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Persistent (+1/2), Difficult To Dispel (x8 Active Points) (+3/4) (110 Active Points); Gestures (-1/4), Requires both hands (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4)&#160;</td><td valign="top" align="right"></td></tr></table><b>Powers Cost:</b> 63

This gives you 200 points to build the building and make it as inpenitrable as I believe he'll want it...

If you are sticking closely with the number of spells a wizard can cast a day, llama would suggest going with Charges. It will help reduce cost and you will not have to pay for Reduced Endurance.

Major Transform (air/nothingness into stone shelter) would work, too, if you added a custom Limitation like, say, "Structure Vanishes After 10 Hours; -1/2)."

Question 9th-Level Sorcerer and Wizard Spells

Llama would think that Wish would prove a bit more difficult to convert.
