    Store Opinions

Ok...now that we seem to have gotten things reasonably stabilized in the new store, I'd like to ask folks for their opinions of the store software.

What do you think of the online store? Is there any functionality that you think is missing? Is there anything that you'd like to see handled differently?

I'm looking to market this e-commerce software to some of my clients and would like to make it as good as I can before I take it out to the rest of the world. Any input (either positive or negative) is welcome.

When you login with your user name the store should automatically recognize who you are, and thus fill-in all the necessary information such as name, address, method of payment, etc. It did not do this when I ordered my additional Digital Hero subscription (3 times due to the fact that the system was not fixed). If this has been changed since then great. If not, I prefer to have the system know who I am so that I do not have to enter the same information over and over each time I want to buy something.

Other than that it worked fine. It updated my number of issues and everything worked like a breeze.

It _should_ be doing that now. If it's not, let me know and I'll look into it (and get it fixed). It is for me, when I check it

Just as a note: if you log in on the main (non-secure) site, the login does not transfer over to the store. The reason for this is one of security. There are security holes that are created if the user sessions are transferred between an insecure server and the secure server. So....you may need to login again when you go into the store.

It is working now. I must have just bought my subscription in the transition phase. Works good. I can't wait to buy something new.

Yup. At the very bottom of the store page (browse.jsp) there should be a link called "Order Status". That will allow you to browse through the status of any and all orders you have placed with the system.

I think it's excellent, Dan. A definite improvement over the previous setup. Much more intuitive.

I don't know if this is exactly a store question ... but it seems to me that on the "Our Products" pages, links to the store would be helpful. In other words, if someone finds their way to the "Our Products" page or subpage, then decides they like what they see there, it should be very easy for them to "impulse buy". As things stand now, they have to head over to the store and then look the item up *again*.

This may be difficult or impossible to do -- I don't know how the store is implemented. But I think it's worth doing if it's possible.

To go a bit further...should the online store and the products pages be one and the same.....shouldn't I be able to find say UMA and then click to add to my cart without haveing to find the online store, and the UMA again?

    how are things shipped?

I was wondering how items are shipped? I never asked and the status never shows how items are shipped? UPS? fedex? or US mail?

We ship UPS Ground for destinations within the US. Otherwise we ship Global Priority.

Just a question and a thought....have you considered Media Mail...

Its ALOT cheaper and I have seen that the speed is equivalent if not sometimes better than UPS.

Ugh. Sorry, Gradon, but my experience has been far different, and I feel the need to chime in. I've seen media mail take weeks to arrive, and you can't track it. I'd really recommend sticking with UPS.

No one wants to hear about your short comings!!

now seriously, I had never had a problem with media mail, but I guess, just like with UPS, FedEx, etc... problems can and do occure....
