It has been announced that it will be 2 books. To the best of my knowledge the price for those books has not been released, or even set for that matter.
Edit: And reading the article, I'll note that they didn't even get Steve's name right, so I'd take any info they've got with at the very least a grain of salt...

Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. -Marcus Aurelius

OMG who wrote that? Are they stupid? Does anyone actually check facts?
"Written both core rules books" ? Past tense? I bet Steve will be glad to know he's already done and can move onto other books now. Someone should tell him.

Not only are they already written, but they also:[SARCASM]Wow. I'm glad that the new 6th Edition has that added flexibility. I could never do that before.[/SARCASM]...bring new levels of flexibility to the Hero System by allowing players to create any sort of character power, gadget, spell, vehicle, monster, or weapon that they can imagine.

For such a short article, it seems to be a bit off. Maybe they didn't mean to publish it yet?
heh, not only did they publish on 3/27 - but they edited on 3/30. Which means it's been touched twice.

Hey, we'll happily take any free marketing and promotion help we can get, though ICv2's reputation for, ahem, being somewhat less than entirely journalistic precedes them. dw

I can't say I've ever been impressed about ICv2's accuracy about much of anything over the years. I can think of at least a couple of occasions where it's printed blatantly incorrect information and innuendo without bothering to check the facts at all.
However, to be clear about a couple things:
--we said from the day we announced 6E that it would come in two books
--the price is, in fact, $39.99 per book, but we're planning a "bundle" deal where you can buy the both of them from us for $69.99 and save a little money.

Well I don't know exact details and at this point don't expect to. But from what I have heard I believe the new split format will be a good thing, and the cost sits right along average. Especially when you consider page count and how many pages in other games books are wasted to graphics and picture instead of content. 100 pages of a hero book gives me at least 95 pages of content. 100 pages of most other books usually only gives up 50 pages of content. To me $69 for the core system is much much better than the $100+ spent on D&D for less content.

Maybe this isn't the right thread for this, and maybe this was answered already somewhere else, but can I ask the reasoning behind splitting the rules into two books?
Has the system bloated so much as to need it?
That seems worrisome to me.
