Metascape II

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Metascape II.

Hoo boy. The game itself looks pretty near unplayable, but the hyperbole the website uses to describe it... I'd say that RaHoWa and Timecube have a new rival in incoherent game design!

I have a degree in mathematics with emphasis on probability and statistics. My die system is forged from those skills combined with my computer science degree and quenched (if you will) in the proving waters of my elite play testers.

Damn, I haven't even finished reading Metascape I (which is on my bookshelf in it's HUGE thick box big enough to fit a ton of other stuff in the box)

I bought Metascape on sale, I don't think I have even read more than a couple of pages. LOL. Just another game to add to my collection :P

WoW just opened up this baby. Forgot that It came with 6 decent sci fi minis. and it has it's own special die the D16(c) LOL. Oh and I forgot the box is numbered and claims to be collectable... (Of course I DO collect weird RP games, but that is besides the point)

It used to be called Metascape-Guild Space. Now I guess they are marketing it as a "universal" system

I paid for a copy of the game like in '96 or so. It had miniatures and dice with a Scifi Campaign. I figured that at the deep discount that I paid for it. The Minis could eventually make the game worth it. Also The campaign might have had stuff that I could steal for a hero game.

The Section of Diceless GMins is priceless. You could do this in many games. Basically for non combat situations you set a Target number that the players need to roll against for resolution. Voila Diceless GMing.

What I love about Metascape II is the High School Elitism that is evident on the website.

So they wrote an overly complex set of rules. So instead of making a beginner's version or taking a look at making the rules more accessible to new players. They preface their rules by saying that only "Intelligent people" can use them.

I really LOLed when I read that stuff.

I guess that is a lesson that we should take to heart here.
