KillerShrike.info isn't just a domain name, its a separately hosted account on DiscountAsp.net.

KillerShrike.com is a pretty chubby ASP.NET Web Application.

The ScrewTurn wiki that I'm using for KillerShrike.info is a full blown ASP.NET Web Site in its own right.

There are subtle differences between Web Apps and Web Sites, and they don't coexist very well and thus I opted to host them separately.

It costs the same as the core KillerShrike.com site does to host ($30 a quarter). The main KillerShrike.com site has additional expenses in the form of extra bandwidth and harddrive space that I've added over the years, but the wiki doesnt have anywhere near as much content or bandwidth requirements and is well within the basic account's tolerance levels.

There is also the database hosting fee, but I can share that between the two applications (and other apps) if I don't mind munging up the db with artifacts from multiple systems. Currently the wiki doesnt need a backing database as I opted for local file persistence which works really well for wikis.

I'm seriously considering redoing KillerShrike.com from scratch as an ASP.NET MVC site, but that's going to require such a huge time commitment that I haven't even begun to actually move in that direction. If I do it, I might start up a third site and build it up piece by piece, or I might try to make the MVC and Web App sites coexist for awhile.

I was just curious. I was wondering where the extra expense came from, but I can see that spending $7.50 a month was cheaper than trying to integrate a wiki into some existing code.
"Do it?" Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome?

I did it thirty-five minutes ago.

    It's $10 / month; a quarter has three months

But yeah -- the minimal expense is worth the saved effort and maintenance.

Kind of a blast from the past, but I commissioned a map for Barbarica from Keith "Awesome Map Guy" Curtis, and it is posted up here: Barbarica Map

You know, if you gotta thread necro, having a nice Keith Curtis map to sweeten the deal sure makes it nice.
