So shadowcat and ghost-angel and I are agreed on Culture does not equal Realm.

So, so far, 3 to 2 against. Anyone else have a preference?

We are going to define the overarching framework, chunk out Realms, define the Realms, then generate content for the Realms, and once a given Realm is mature enough / has enough content we'll loosely map that Realm. Once enough Realms are mapped we'll loosely map Generica from the Realm maps. Tweak as necessary.

Maybe instead of separate realms, just have them as supplements to some of the realms...

What i mean is that the cultural ones could simply be additions to the main realm(s) with minor changes amongst each realm, including new races/monsters that pertain to each culture...

I think I see what Odraude is going for. We could add a stub for "variant culture overlays" with suggestions on how the GM could flavor specific realms with different cultural feels.

Ok, so like a re-skin advice block. I wouldnt have a problem with that; in fact I follow a "Variants" pattern quite often.

Pulling in BC Era Mediterranean. From Persian and Alexander to Pre-Christian Rome to Troy, Greece and even Egypt.

Low Magic, High Hero Content, Directly Ivolved Gods. Classica should have limited non-human races, but not remove them entirely. Maybe Classica mixes it up.

Elves (one type); Centaurs; Satyrs; and possibly toss in one other slightly more classic, maybe Dwarves (someone has to build all those mazes); and even Minotaurs as "PC Races"

I can toss this into the Discussion page on the wiki when I get home, just need to get some notes down before then.
I added the Realm page for Classica; I'll make time to stub out the basic set of pages hopefully later today.

Cool, I have a few errands to run after work, but should have some time to add info to the site this afternoon as well. And will dedicate some time tomorrow to it.

Looking forward to seeing it. Ghostwolf and I have put up some ideas on Celtica in the Magic System doc, if you get a chance to look at it.

Is there an explanation as to how the realms are kept separate? Something like the Wall in the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix? Reasons why magic and possibly the laws of physics operate differently in different areas.

This is just my opinion here. I think that overall, physics and magic work the same way throughout the realms (with the exception of Apolyptica, for obvious reasons). The differences in the way magic is performed could be considered to be regional flair, differences in research and training, etc. The guidelines and paradigms for each realm lay down a set of strictures that characters created from that realm abide by, but players and gms are free to move characters around between realms as they wish.
