    DH #13

It was great to get the new DH today, with all the Name the Hero winners published (mine included!). I haven't had time to look through the whole thing, but what I've seen so far looks great.

One nitpick that has me banging my head against the wall, however...my name was, as usual, misspelled. It was spelled correctly next to Psiphon's name on his character background writeup, but incorrectly in the credits and in a couple of other places in the writeup. *Sigh* I know it's a minor detail at most, but it's frustrating to see my name misspelled everywhere, especially when it was actually spelled correctly elsewhere in the same document.

    Glen,

I'm putting together a revised DH tomorrow, that will be the one that goes up on the Hero site. I'll correct your name.

    Unhappy

Glen, my real name gets misspelled all the time (and it's not that hard to remember), so I sympathize with you. Perhaps there's an echo of those two "g"s at the end of your last name at work. At least getting an advance copy has allowed you to alert Dave "On the Spot" Mattingly in time to correct it.

I must say that this is one issue I've really been looking forward to. The "Name the Hero" discussion made these characters sound most intriguing, especially since they're explicitly the cream of a fine crop. And I'd love to confirm my impression that they'd work well as a team that I could drop into my own campaign.

Glen, I hear you. Hero, thankfully has never done this to me, but I am frequently written as Kieth or Curtiss. No real big deal, but it happens. As long as they're close, I don't mind. The worst instance, however, was when I was asked to help run an industry* workshop and was somehow listed as "Brian Keith"

    ?!?!?!

That is odd... the real (famous) Brian Keith is rather hard to book these days.

Lucky for me, no one ever misspells my name.
"Similarly, don't get hung up trying to figure out the 'exact right way' to build something using the Hero System rules..." (6E2 277).

    Yeah, that'll happen.

    Thumbs up

Latest comment... the way Blaine fleshed out through individual drawings of the MC8 is... utterly amazing.

If its not too late for typos, in Commando Rubberbando's write up, under Background/History, the last sentence of the 3rd paragraph ends with
    "...and noble."

    It is supposed to read
"...and noble service in keeping with the proud traditions of the Green Berets."

If being trimmed for space, then it should at least read
    "...and noble service"
    or perhaps
    "...and distinguished service"
which flows a little better when abbreviated.

Actually, the entire rest of the original paragraph summarizing some his service is missing. Not sure if that was intentional or not. As he had been active in many of the hotspots of the last 30 years, perhaps it was removed for Political Correctness purposes, but I thought Id point it out in case it was a mistake....

Also, the table of contents seems to be out of whack by about 2 pages on the page counts. Rubberbando starts on page 62, not 60 as listed. Maegara starts on 57 not 55, etc....

You are a gentleman and a scholar and I shall remember you in my will. Not that I'll have anything to leave, but the thought is there.

Will contributors get copies of the revised edition as well, or are we to purchase them as per usual?

That's because the internal page count for DH doesn't include the cover and the table of contents pages; p. 1 of DH is always on p. 3 of the pdf.

Took me a little while to catch on to that myself.

    Typo and comment:

Lady Liberty's Wards of Protection seem to have been added twice (total PD and ED should be 16 rather than 26).

Also, the +17 PRE from her badge should probably be listed under Characteristics (one of those 13/30 thingies).

Blaine: the art for her is very well done...but she looks awfully cheery for someone with a limited sense of humor. The cover pose, on the other hand, is spot-on perfect!

We do seem to have some ultra serious types and gloomy gusses on the team, don't we? Thank goodness for "The Sting"

Yeah, I foresee a lot of dark glares coming his way.

One of the problems of designs from different people, I suppose. I wonder why people gravitated towards more serious characters, or whether that was the judges' tastes?

Glad there's one cheerful character in there. Heck. I've just realised that if there's ever an "MC-8" animated series, he's going to be the annoying "comedy" character. Yeah, like that's going to happen.

Looking back on my unsuccessful entries, there were actually some who were more miserable than the ones we got (although a couple were more upbeat). Thank heaven for small mercies.

BTW, the recipe in El Aguijón's write up (for a yellow/green/yellow striped shooter) works. I know, because I kept testing the drink until it was right. Then I tested it some more, just in case.
