I'm considering teaching 6E in a classroom environment; Starting with Hero Basic. The gamers involved have from zero to veteran experience with RPG's in general.
Any advise, suggestions, or warnings about such an endeavor?

Well just like the books themselves I would split up the process between character creation and combat/adventuring. I would give them a printout of an example combat and give them some pre-gen characters to play around with first to learn basics of combat (Speed Chart, DEX order, how Block can affect DEX order, etc...) then move on to character generation.
I'd start with real world situations and discuss how to simulate them in the rules.
Make some case studies.
"I'm a weight lifter, lifting 100 kilos"
"I'm an archer, on horseback, shooting at a moving target. What are the variables"
