In FRED P 96 they list some possible SFX for powers. Other then that I'd say use 'reason from effect'. IE-What does your power do? Acid burns so make it a Killing Attack that does no knockback. Maybe link it to Drain:COM or some such.

Take a look at the UNTIL Superpowers Database books. There were two volumes done for 5th Ed. Most of it would work just as well in 6th with a little work. You could also wait to see if they are going to redo them.
EDIT: It looks like they are going to redo them as one book called Champions Powers for 6th Ed. There you go.

Going beyond the above would start edging too far in the direction of "The Big Book of Hero Character Classes"...
