More Papercraft! This time for Star Hero

In my ongoing quest to find cheap ways to bring minis to the table, I came across some Cardboard Hero like PDFs for Star Trek and Prime Driective Role Playing.

There are four set for TOS haven't seen any for other series yet and you can find them here

    enjoy!

Very nice stuff. Though I prefer my Klingons with the bumps on their foreheads. Well done!!!

Naw! The bumpy-headed ones are just a bunch of drunken targets. The non-bumpy Klingons are actually a threat.

Those were created by David Okum, who posts here under... what name I can't recall. Maybe he'll pop in here and take the credit.

The link is in the word "here" at the end of the second sentence.

And Dave Okum is aka penemue, IIRC.

I love these. Lately we've been using Hero Clix which are very nice and fun but their bases are too large for our hexes. I would love to switch over to the paper minis like we used to use (with the obligatory penny taped to the bottom). Maybe I will suggest that. It is frequently easier to find an image that resembles your character rather than a clix.

Oh, and Tasha, I think I prefer my Klingons with bumps too. I understand why the TOS didn't do much makeup but I think it was a nice addition to TNG. IIRC there was even some retconning where the TOS Klingons were surgically altered to appeal to human sensibilities or something.

If you believe Enterprise (the series). Klingons stole federation research on Dr Soong's Augments. The Klingon doctor doing the research had good results in augmenting Klingons, but had issues with them losing their Distinctive Klingon Looks. Unfortunatly for the Klingons an illness piggybacked the Augment DNA changes and ripped though the Klingon Defense forces leaving all of it's victims looking like Humans. Eventually Dr Phlox on Enterprise working with Klingon Doctors devised a cure for the disease that stopped killing klingons, but unfortunatly left them looking like humans (Their offspring would look like "true" Klingons. The Memory Beta Article seems to think that the human appearing Klingons either used plastic surgery to get back their ridges (seems unlikely giving the disdain Klingons have for doctors) or another DNA therapy was used to give those Klingons their bumpy appearance back (which is an explanation as to why Kirk's old Klingon captain foes showed up on DS9 looking all bumpy)

Honestly, while I am kind of in awe of how much thought went into explaining this. I was perfectly fine imagining that Klingons were always bumpy, that their appearance in TOS was due to the lack of show budget and lack of makeup tech that would allow for the creation of believable make up.

The bumpy Klingons have always been more interesting than the TOS versions of the same name.

I remember an interview in Starlog back when the first movie came out where the director said that the TOS Klingons had been altered so that they could breath the same atmosphere as humans. Of course that wasn't ever considered cannon for Trek

Yeah, different writers, different retro-fix of the canon.

Re: More Papercraft! This time for Star Hero

I was trying to find this page that had more papercraft for Sci-Fi. Turns out that the same guy who did the Star Trek paper minis also does the sci fi stuff I was looking for.

So here is One Monk's Website.

The minis I was looking for are the Sci Fi Armies, See them HERE.

I reaaly want to printout and build that tank one of these days

Enjoy and give One Monk some props for this huge labor of love.

Re: More Papercraft! This time for Star Hero

Hey all, I just posted some Trek Monsters and will be adding more Trek Original Series goodness in the coming weeks.
I like the bumpy headed Klingons too, but I'm using these for a game set in the original series setting and I'm only using the original series as canon (maybe the animated series, but only what I liked). As far as I'm concerned, Klingons always looked like that (at least for this campaign).
    Any questions or requests?
