Anyone from champaign illinois on here? I know there are a few Illy peeps on these boards lurking around. making another call out to try and get a group together.
So lets hear ya! who wants to play hero? (and preferably GM it also.)

While I am not there currently, I do know that there is a group that meets over in the Decatur area...Look for Azato here on the boards...He could potentially hook you up.

I'm in Wheaton and I'm looking for a second RPG group on Saturdays. I can travel a little bit for the right game. But honestly I'm not sure where the rest of you are. Wheaton is in Chicago's far west burbs in DuPage.
I'm in IL, but living so far south that I'm at least three hours from anyone else on this thread. I was considering moving farther north, but now I've got what appears to be a permanent job here, so I'll be toughing it out in the boondocks for a while. Let me know what happens up there in civilization, okay?
I'm not running Dark Champions, it's Seared Champions: burnt to a crisp on the outside, raw and bloody in the middle, with little crunchy bits falling off the edges, then seasoned to taste....
The reason most house rules suck is that they're based on the misconception that game design is easy. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

If I ever win the lotto I will put that to the test.![]()
I've got an awesome fantasy campaign worth the drive...just not enough time to keep writing everything up. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to GM'ing...this campaign has been in my head for a decade, getting refined and written down here and there, but really it's my chinese democracy. lol

I've had some bad experiences with fantasy RPGs. They were all flat and boring. Like they were looking over Tolkin's shoulder in math class. The games felt generic with less depth than the SSI gold box computer games I played 20 years ago. We had to save a world that I felt would be better off dead.
So if you ever start this campaign, it would probably be best if I take a pass. What FRPG has to do to redeem itself to me is too much to expect from one person.

Heh, we're playing out of Glenview here. We're pretty full, though. Possibly room for one with our chronically missing player being out of commission for nearly a year now. =) I'm so Illinois-clueless that I'm not even sure where most of you are, and too lazy to look it up. How's that for sad? =)
Weeknights, you say? Sorry I can't join you, but three-hour drives during the work week are pretty much out of the question. I've recently joined Mattingly's game in Louisville, which is a two-hour drive about one Saturday a month. I could probably fit in another Saturday game in central IL about once a month as well. I've even got a gaming venue available in Champaign.

True success is largely a matter of luck, timing and maintaining realistic expectations. Becoming rich through your hard work is a rarity. Becoming rich through other people's hard work is too common.
