    Problem installing Hero Designer

I just got the new Hero Designer and first tried installing on my new laptop (running Windows 7, 32bit Java) and I kept getting

"Could not find the main class: C\Program Files\Hero Designer\HDv3setup.jar. Program will exit."

So I looked on the forums and found that some people have had success installing it on another computer and then transfer it over . So I installed it on another computer and it worked. So I transferred it over to my laptop and now still get

"Could not find the main class: C\Program Files\Hero Designer\HDv3.jar. Program will exit."

What is wrong with it? I am not the best computer user and need some help with this as I have paid $25.00 for the program and should expect it to work (rightfully so!!!)

Will you please tell me what to do to make it work?

    Re: Problem installing Hero Designer

The problem is that you somehow stuck it in C:\Program Files.

Uninstall it and reinstall it to your C:\Users directory.

    Re: Problem installing Hero Designer

I reinstalled it in the users/hero designer directory on my work computer and transferred it to my laptop but this made no difference.

I still get the same error for both installing and trying to run it. I have reinstalled java several times but this doesnt seem to help either.

    Help me someone!!!!

    Thanks..

You're transferring it to the C:\Program Files\ directory on your laptop. Put it in your Documents directory.

I keep getting "could not find Main class: com.hero. HeroDesigner. program will exit". What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

    Re: Problem installing Hero Designer

can you get to the program files and hit the runHD (MS-DOS BATCH FILE) icon
are you sure you have a 32 bit machine?
it may be a 64bit that had java 64 bit already installed
I installed java 32 bit and HD on an 8 gig SD card and left it in the slot(could also do the same on a thunb drive)
only difference is that I need to start HD using the runHD (MS-DOS BATCH FILE) icon ,instead of the normal HDv3 EXE jar file

Does that mean that Hero Designer won't work on a 64-bit system?

HD will not work with 64 bit java
I installed HD and Java 32 bit on an 8 gig SD card and it works fine for me(on a win 7 64 bit laptop)
I just have to start it by hitting the runHD MS-DOSBatch file instead of the normal shortcut

    Re: Problem installing Hero Designer

Well, to be clear, the installer won't work with 64-bit Java -- HD itself will run just fine. You can have both versions installed on a single system, if desired....or you can forgo the installer entirely -- the update JAR file contains the entirety of the code for the application....all you need other than that is the documentation and some export formats, all of which can be downloaded from the website. The only other thing that the installer does for you is to create shortcuts to launch HD...but you can do that on your own as well (if desired).

    Re: Problem installing Hero Designer

Okay so I can just create my own Hero Designer directory, plop the .jar file in there (along with some export templates etc) and I should be good to go then?

    PS: Sorry for the thread hi-jack . . .

Okay did everything you said. Just blanket copied everything over, created my own shortcut to the HDv3.jar file and when I double click it, windows tells me that it can't open the file.

    Any ideas?
