HeroDesigner still v3? And what will I be getting if I have an old v3?

Hey Gang,

I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that HeroDesigner had undergone a significant change when 6E came out. But I'm noticing that my "old" HeroDesigner, last updated in 2010, is listed as v3 as well.

If I resubscribe will I be getting an update or something wholly new? (It looks as if the process of resubscribing would give me an update that allows me to create 6E characters.)

Hey Charles,

Dan modified the update page a while ago to give details on what the updates do. While you will not be able to download the latest updates, you can log into the hero site and check the HD updates page (http://www.herogames.com/hdUpdates.htm) to see what you are missing. As far as version numbers, HD is pretty much still v3. Dan just added the "6th Edition" to the start-up splash page to help limit confusion. Not sure what bug fixes or errors you would be missing out on. FYI... February 3rd, 2011 was the last update.

If your last update was in 2010, you should be able to create 6E characters now. 6E was added on August of 2009. In HD, go to File->New Character and you should see items for creating a new character from current template, 6E template, 5E template, and custom template.

I think you and the link have told me what I need to know. It turns out that my last update was in '08, so I will need to re-up if I want the 6E compatibility.

It's too bad that there isn't official support right now, but it looks like people have really picked up the slack.
