    Steve's New Website

This isn't precisely company business, but since I'm still an owner of the company I think I'll sneak it in here anyways.

Today I am launching a new personal website as part of my efforts to make a living doing self-published gaming books and hopefully selling my fiction. You can find it here:

    Steven S. Long

There's a blog, other articles of interest, message boards, free gaming stuff, and various other goodies. Come on by and say hi!

Nice! So, should we be checking that page for future updates on the endeavors of the enigmatic Steve Long?
My favorite game console is a table and chairs.

Absolutely! Though the odds are I'll mention 'em here somewhere as well.

This is something that was posted by me and another on the other thread that I thought I'd carry over here:

Actually, this seems like a great idea for you, Steve. And for Darren and Jason as well. A bi-weekly or once a month e-mail with updates would be a great way to keep connected with people who otherwise don't visit the forums on a regular enough basis to keep up to date. I'd also want to join up on that kind of e-mail list just to help keep up to date just in case I miss something on here.

I don't know if you can set up a 'sign up' section to your website so that people can keep up to date with everything, but I think it would be a great thing. Even for us who frequent the forums, it can still be a bit confusing to keep up with everything that is going on (101 different posts, threads and blogs to keep up with). I liked the weekly updates since they were good ways to catch up on what you thought was the most important pieces of info. I see a mail service being the same. Even if it is a little bare on details compared to actual blogs or thread posts, it at least gives us the highlights. Likewise, you could always link to the relevant sections on here or your own website for further info about what such things.

Anyway, it is good to see your new website up and running!

In the bottom right of that website there is an RSS feed for blogs and articles. RSS is the usual method to "sign up" to receive mailings for these sorts of things.
"Do it?" Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome?

I did it thirty-five minutes ago.

    Re: Steve's New Website

As gojira has kindly pointed out, the RSS feed is the best way to keep on top of that. I think that because I use the "excerpt" feature so that only the first paragraph or so of each article or blog post appears on the main Blogs or Articles page, the RSS feed will only send you that excerpt, but that's enough to tell you that I've just posted something new.

And I'll certainly make it known here if I post something that might be of interest to the Hero community.

One more teeny note: it's normal for folks who use their own name as their domain name to use the .org top level domain, rather than .com. Regardless whether you decide to keep the .com or switch to .org, you might want to register stevenslong.org just to make sure no one else does. Only $10 per year through Google, and they mask your personal info at no extra charge.
