Issues with Champions Powers Hero Designer Pack

I originally posted this over in the Hero Designer forum, which was probably the wrong place for it...

In the Champions Powers Hero Designer pack some of the files are incorrectly named as .hdc instead of .hdp. This is easy to fix by changing the file names, but there is a more serious issue with some of the files. Several cannot be opened at all, either as characters OR as prefabs (after changing the name to .hdp). They give an error in HD that reads:

"An error occurred on the template used for the saved character.
Using 'Standard Super' template

Error Message: Error on line 1 of document file ... content is not allowed in prolog."

Files with this problem are TELEKINESIS-CP.hdc, TELEPORTATION-CP.hdc, and Time.hdc

Is there any chance the issues with these three files will ever be fixed? Because it kind of sucks to pay $24.99 for something that's incomplete.

Well, they aren't incorrectly named, first off. The .hdc are character files, not prefabs.

Second, simply renaming them isn't going to solve the perceived problem.

The solution is to open the one's that are .hdc as characters and then save those characters as Prefabs.

They shouldn't be character files. There are no full characters in Champions Powers. However, the ones that are just .hdc instead of .hdp are not the real problem. To open them as prefabs, you can either do as you say, or skip the extra step and just change the filenames.

The real problem is the three files listed above that cannot be opened by HD at all. They give an error message and no data is imported into HD.

Which explains that the issue with those three files is that they are zip files which have been incorrectly named as .hdc or .hdp. Once I saw that, I was able to fix the problem.

I'd still suggest that the powers that be fix the main download at the store. Otherwise, they're going to keep getting this question.

Ah-ha! You might want to email Jason Walters with this quote and see if he's had a chance to correct the file:

There may have been a problem with Telekinesis, Teleportation, and Time accidentally getting the wrong file extension -- they were labeled .hdc when they should be .zip. Change it, unzip them, and things should be fine, I am told.

I have also sent a new version of those three sections to Jason so he can incorporate them into the main download.

I just went into the TIME_POWERS folder, change time.hdc to time.zip and then extracted the the 5 TIME character files. I was then able to load them into HD. Looks like this is the issues with TELEPORTATION and TELEKINESIS as well.
