    Icon26 Touch of Knowledge...

I'm contemplating ways to build this ability, and thought I'd enlist the aid of anyone on the board willing to help...

Basically, you touch someone, and gain the ability to read and write any languages they know, use any of their Knowledge Skills, and Remember things they know... Until you tough someone else, and gain their knowledge in place of it...

Well...it sounds like telepathy, but Hero Teep does not work that way. Well, it is for remembering what they remember, so you will need it for that.

As for the rest, either you get your GM to allow you a 'Skills and Languages' VPP*, or you buy Multiform (only to copy the knowledge of the last person you touched), which would also need to be in a VPP.

The problem with 'perfect knowledge' powers is that they can ruin a plot instantly, so I am reluctant to go there

*Or you basically buy every skill and language with a limitation that you can only use them after touching someone who can use them.

Actually, I'm the GM... I'm contemplating Limited Telepathy, linked to Eidetic Memory, but I'm wondering if there's a more elegant way to do it... The Languages could be Universal Translator, with such a limitation... I'm getting used to 6th edition, after a while away from Hero System, so I appreciate any suggestions you can make... And I will definately be looking at a VPP for the Knowledge Skills... Thanks...

VPP using the mimic template(can only change when using telepathy as a bridge) 60pts is 20 different skills
add in scholar,Jack of all trades,Linguist, well traveled, scientist to lower slot costs
    Eidetic Memory to flavor
    Cramming if needed

Vice Admiral Sir John Perrot Royal Order of the Tudor Rose NCRF

Can't remember -- does Hero have a Universal Translator power? Something like that with a minor limitation seems the easiest to me, already costed out and all.
"Do it?" Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome?

I did it thirty-five minutes ago.

With the Universal Translator, limit it with last person you touched. Is this going to be a skill transfer or a knowledge transfer/ cloning? Just for your info, I have a friend who lost her personal knowledge of her life but retained all her skills like language, music, typing and others. As a GM, you can rule that it doesn't give knowledge but only skills. This would keep from ruining any mysteries.

    Re: Touch of Knowledge...

The limited VPP is the easiest. With the Universal Translator method, to represent skills I'd buy x overall skill levels to represent any skill. Or maybe +20 INT only for skills? And less not forget, just because he gets someone elses knowledge doesn't mean that that person's knowledge is perfect. And don't forget knowing how to do something is different than doing it. And to think about it, I wouldn't let the character have a full 5pt language either. Just cause he knows what is spoken doesn't mean he can pronounce the language correctly. (But that's just me)
I'm amazed at what I learned, when I sat down and actually read the rules!

Warning--unless explixtedly stated, all comments are made to 5th ed rev.

If you want to recall everything that your target has in his memory once the telepathy is over you will need plenty of 'Rapid Sense' on your telepathy is you want to 'download' everything, or you will only get what you can 'read' during the contact period.

Maybe duplication, just to duplicate his memories, and mind reading to read them...?

The character Nocturne from the 5th ED Champions Universe: News of the World supplement has abilities similar to what you're looking for.

She has both a vpp (to mimic skills) and Telepathy (to cover knowledge).

Bizarre notion here... What about a mental transform, to create a copy of someone's memories...? It would be creating a set of memories from out of nowhere, wouldn't it...? Opinions...?

I think Skill Enhanchers don't affect Skills in a VPP, even if they are allowed.

Duplication is the power you use, when you want to have a extra set of actions under your controll. It's similar in that way to a follower or summon. But the amount of controll and how hard it is to "replace" someone varries.

I would propably go with "KS: Person I currently mimik". Can be bought outside of a VPP. That avoids an absolute.

For most builds I could see some Uncontrolled limitation in palce.
One important question is: How could one defend against that power? Wich targets are immune? It can be important to have a "Kill Switch" on this power, so you as a GM can turn it of if it would break the adventure.
