I just bought the 6e Martial Arts book and am about to start in in 5e game. I have gathered that main rules from 5e to 6e is a big leap, but how much backwards engineering will I need to use the 6e martial arts book in a 5e game.

None though there are a couple of the powers you might have to tweak point cost wise. Frankly, if you aren't going to use 6e, better off sticking with 5e Ultimate Martial Artist and Ninja Hero.

I am entirely new to the system; so, 6e is my introduction, but so far, the one Heroes game that I have found that suits my tastes is a 5e game.
As rex said almost no differences except some pricing differences in power builds.

And check the velocity damage for throw manuevers. In 5th its v/5 or v/3 but velocity is based hexes which is 2 meters per hex. Since 6th the smallest unit is meter, I think the modifiers is different. At least something to keep an eye on.
I'm amazed at what I learned, when I sat down and actually read the rules!
Warning--unless explixtedly stated, all comments are made to 5th ed rev.
v/10 becomes v/5 and v/3 becomes a v/6

well I said it wrong
In 5th it was
v/5 or v/3
in 6th it is
v/10 or v/6
In my games it is v/10 or v/5 (math is easier in game that way, and vary little difference damage wise
