Damage Shield

What do I need to do to make the following below have Area Of Effect (personal Surface — Damage Shield)?

High Temperature Body: Killing Attack - Ranged 1d6, Area Of Effect (1m Radius; +1/4), Persistent (+1/4), Constant (+1/2), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (37 Active Points); No Range (-1/2), Always On (-1/2)

When you select AOE where it says Radius click on the drop-down arrow and select surface. If you want both you have to select AOE twice .

Did I need to put Damage Shield in the Options for AoE?

No see 6E1 page 321 for how to build a "Damage Shield".

I have read the on Damage Shield in the book but I am still confused.
