    Re: MYTHIC HERO Kickstarter

I'm just curious to know if the "printed version" will be a paperback or a hardcover.
Softcover. Making it a hardcover would send my printing bills and shipping costs even higher, and this project is gonna cost enough moolah as it is.

Maybe if it does reeeeeaaaaalllly well I'll consider a limited edition hardback release, or something like that. But first it's gotta succeed in standard form.

My wife, who is not particularly RPGish, told me that I needed to support at the $75 level.

And, hey, you always have to listen to your wife, right?

That puts us up to the edge of 5K...

Somebody want to push us over?

I pushed! But...not quite hard enough, sorry! I pledged at $25 so now we're at $4,990! Just. Ten. Bucks! to 5k!

Day 2 and MH has now crossed the $5,000 line! The project is 15% funded so far. That still leaves a long way to go, though, so I'd appreciate your support if you haven't pledged already.

For the record, I kicked in 1k already; I'm just mulling over my options for gods. I know I'd love him to do his interpetion of one of my Asian immortal progenitors collectively called the Eight Sages--I have four roughly shaped in my head so far.

Also, I cannot figure out for the love of myself what kind of God I am. I'm leaning towards being meta in some silly way.
<The Rose> I also have the PS: Human.
<Lethosos> We all do; it's just some that have a low PS level.

A lot of American Indian mythologies have a trickster or folk hero god, like Coyote or Whiskey Jack.
"Do it?" Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome?

I did it thirty-five minutes ago.

OK, I'm in for a book. I'll worry about the $50 postage later. This is a boojk I really want to see happen, so I may increase my support later.

Well, the project has crossed the 20% mark!! Now it's time to stride onward to the statistically-significant 30% line.

Thanx to everyone who's pledged support so far! Clearly you are all kind, intelligent, attractive individuals of impeccable taste who deserve to be nominated for a major world award of some sort.

It's certainly nice to see the numbers climb. (I think it's great that there are already 92 contributors.) I also think it's a great move to add the possibility of new content in the update.

Since this appears to be your shot at Deities & Demigods HERO, have you considered including the ever-popular Cthulhu Mythos? Yes, I know, it's not a real world mythology, at least I hope it's not, but I think it would be a fun addition.

What I can never quite figure out is if Lovecraft's work is in the public domain yet. (I know this was an issue for TSR back in the day.) It just seems like there are an awful lot of Cthulhu titled items floating around.

Lovecraft's work is sufficiently in the public domain, or is available for me to use by cutting some sort of sublicensing deal, that I could include the Cthulhu Mythos if I wanted to. But at this point I don't. There's enough there for a whole book (remember, we did have Cthulhu Hero on the schedule for late 2012, to be written by me and Ken Hite). I'd rather stick to real-world mythologies (of which I'm already including a ridiculous number ) and save the fictional ones for some other project sometime.

Multiple PDFs update: I've had some inquires about buying multiple copies of the PDF for MH, so I added a FAQ entry to the project page describing how to do that:
