Your favorite metamorph type is...

Speaking generally, of course, since you couldn't have all the options on a poll and metamorphs (by their nature) are a varied lot.

And yes, I'm going by the 'official' archetype, but even that's open to a lot.

EDIT: I suppose for the Duplication, I should have said "More than one form at a TIME is better "

    I cant decide between

Stretching Type (Mr Fantastic, Elongated Man..etc)

The "Mystique" type, the ultimate spy Aka Spymaster (from Iron Man) one of my favourite villians

Substance Changer (Absorbing man type?)

Something Tech related (Shifting armor, the ability to turn into a car, etc)

Why these limitations? I prefer my metamorphs to turn into ANYTHING!
.
If you thought the last one was a catch all, you're wrong. Why not multiple choice ol' pollmeister?

The Mystique ability to 'be' anyone is probably the most dangerous, but for 'cool' factor I picked 'substance morphing' ala Absorbing Man.

    I went wit Mystique.

I liked her in the X-Men comics before the films came out.

    All the way live, baby.

My shapechanger can do the whole assorted plastic man cartoon (he's an airplane, he's a boat, he's got 12" long spikes coming from his hands, shrink, grow, the whole 9 yards. Great fun.)

How could you leave the hallowed name of Metamorpho out of this poll? Does it get any more obvious than that?

My favorite is actually the sort who becomes different beings more or less, typified by the Hulk, Cap'n Trips from WILD CARDS, Evolvo-Lad from the pre-CRISIS Legion or Crazy Jane from Grant Morrison's DOOM PATROL.

In fact, I recently put together a foe for my high-power CHAMPS game who uses the Crazy Jane motif, Multiple Personality Disorder Multiform. I actually built her first for 4E, and in fact before Jane came out, but she works better under 5E's Multiform rules. I'll eventually post her here, but I have to wait until after she's been used in play, so as to not spoil the surprise for my players (at least two of whom are regulars on this board).

I just plain *love* 5E Multiform, BTW. The "x2 number of forms for +5 pts" adds a ton of versatility without being abusive in terms of raw power. If I get a chance to play rather than GM one of these days, there's a very high probability I'm going to want to play a Multiform character of some sort or another - someone who can channel different "selves" from alternate dimensions/time streams, or a guy with a "totem form", or a Zodiac charater, or a competent human who can also take the form of a godly avatar (or several avatar forms in a related pantheon) or something along those lines.

Because you've all grown soft of late, and I thought I'd toughen you up by forcing you to see if you could pick just one.

Either that, or I just didn't think of it at the time, I forget which

I also left out 'other' . I'm so evil.

If you were open to the idea, I would love to see this character. Crazy Jane is one of my favorite characters. You can email me at ephelps AT cfl DOT rr DOT com. Or PM me if you like, I will try to keep an eye on the PM box.

Reading about her in Doom Patrol inspired me to read "When Rabbit Howls", written by the Troops for Trudy Chase, a real life MPD. Don't read it if you are at all sqeamish. I could only real a chapter or so at a time, it needs serious thought to process what is going on.

I'll go ahead and email it to you, Ernie. Probably some time tonite or later this weekend. I don't have the HERO software, so does a Word document work for you?

MPD/DID is a subject I know quite a bit about. I'm a mental health professional specializing in treating survivors of trauma/abuse, and I have occasionally worked with people with severe dissociative disorders. I've read Ms. Chase's book, and I've worked with clients who have, unfortunately, experienced things every bit as bad as she did. On the positive side, most people with trauma-related difficulties do get better with treatment... which is what makes the work tolerable.

It's sent. Ernie, any feedback would be appreciated. Let me know if it doesn't arrive or if the document attachment won't open.
