    Batfox, part deux!

Background: Wilma Wells was a reporter for Superhype, hardly the most reputable rag, but it paid the bills. She had had more than enough run ins where a bit of training in Karate (Which she was pretty good at) became necessary. Sadly, her assignment was what she thought of as an especially degrading one. She had to follow the exploits of that nutcase Foxbat. Fine, she'd do it, do it well, and honestly. She'd get noticed by a real newspaper, and get out of this job.

For over a year, she chased Foxbat. She kept track of reports of him, she paid folks to give her the tips she needed. She breathed, ate and excreted all things Foxbat (Not literally of course, let's not get sick). While he was more than willing to talk most of the time, his ridiculous story and "master plan" seemed to change every time she met him. Sometimes he didn't want to talk at all, fancying himself mysterious. Wilma realized her best bet would be to sneak up on the guy and observe, maybe then she could get the "Real" Scoop on him, whatever that was.

It came to pass that Wilma indeed did track down the Foxbat engaged in battle with a group of Superheroes at a deserted warehouse of some sort. Hiding near a box full of costumes, she hid very well, perhaps too well. There was a blast, and she was hurled back and slammed her head- hard.

She groggily came to, hearing a voice "You'll never stop my Master Plan!" Master Plan? Wha? Who's master plan was that, and, why was she trying to stop it? For that matter, who was she? It was so hard to think. She peeked through the various clothes, and saw the Foxbat, it was almost as if he was talking to her.

"No hero can stop the master plan of Foxbat, the most dangerous villain on earth. No matter how hard you try, you'll never catch me! Mahaahaaha!"

Wilma began to realize she must be a hero, and more than that, she had gone after the most dangerous villain on earth! Foxbat had to be stopped, once her head stopped pounding (And everyone else had long left) she gathered the garments about her, and dedicated herself to being everything Foxbat was not. She would fight for Truth, Justice, and... good fashion sense maybe? Really, that costume Foxbat wore was atrocious. She would be a beacon of light against his dark designs, she would be the lightning rod of freedom to oppose the dark storm of his tyranny, she would be his opposite, his nemesis, Lo, she would be the BATFOX!

She found a purse of some poor woman likely lost to the Foxbat's depredations, and she took the woman's (A woman named Wilma Wells) identity for her own. Apparently everyone who knew this Wilma buys the act, so far so good. She trained hard, but training wasn't enough. To counteract his dreaded Ping Pong ball gun, she made her Batfox paws! To match his amazing Centipede mobile, she "Borrowed" the cricket Cycle (All in the name of justice). And, when a young woman nearly incapacitated her with a perfume sample in the mall, she knew that "presumption" could be added to the arsenal of goodness!

Now, hated and shunned by those she protects, she wanders the countryside. A champion of truth, justice, and fashion sense (bet you thought she'd forgotten), she's the best at what she does, and what she does is hunt foxbats!

Personality: After chasing Foxbat for months as a reporter and trying to make his story a more serious and respectable one, Wilma was near the snapping point anyways. The blow to her head caused her to actually take one of Foxbat's attempts at oratory seriously, and she's soaked up the message like a sponge. She sees her self as the antithesis of the wicked, evil, nasty (but kind of darkly handsome in those tights) Foxbat!

Any comments from other heroes portraying Foxbat as harmless will be meet with disbelief, or worse, fear that Foxbat has somehow brainwashed the hero in question. She is quite bonkers herself mind you, and might lament how the love she and a certain hero have (even if he just met her) can never be, for her path is a lonely one. Those heroes that decide to pursue her romantically may receive an earful about how she has a job to do, and she's no damsel.

Powers/Tactics: Sadly, the Batfox is out of her league, and she knows it. Still, a true hero never lets that stop her. If she would only just suckerpunch him, she might have a chance, but as she's convinced she's a hero, and heroes never EVER do that (She did read some comics too after all). So, she often finds local heroes and tries to convince them to aid her in her sacred quest. She will thwart Foxbat's master plan, but since even he doesn't know what that plan is, she's just as likely to give him a few good ideas as she announces HOW she's going to stop it.

Her "Powers" consist of superb training driven by obsession, a few knick knacks and the creative use of them. The enhanced Ping Pong Paddles she made bear the Batfox logo on them (And , if the GM wishes, for a special effect, might leave a mark on any roll of three 1s) and she has reinforced them and trained for hours with her "Batfox Paws". Sadly, her one attempt to glide with them ended abysmally, so she relies on her Cricket Cycle for transport. If she continues her pursuit for a long time, she will surely increase her arsenal and gain more tactical knowledge.

Appearance: Batfox is an attractive redhead (Hey, aren't about half the super heroines red heads anyways?) who stands about 5'5" and is in terrific shape. She has more costumes than Emelda Marcos had shoes, and it is this constantly changing wardrobe that is partially to blame for her lack of a recognizable reputation. Most often however, she wears a black and yellow costume with large pointy ears, and a short half cape. Her attempts to wear high heels on the job led to complications, in fact, they slowed her down... hmm if she could only get Foxbat in high-heels, and maybe she could catch him at last.

Wilma is an attractive redhead with brown eyes, who tends to dress practically, save for a duffle bag she lugs around.

BTW, for those wondering why I posted this, it was a character I whipped up on the "old boards" before they went down.

As those of you can probably tell, she came out before CKC's version of the Foxbat was released, and may need some adjustment for your individual campaigns. I realize the formating is sloppy, and my apology for that. I basically just cut and pasted the old notes I had.

Maybe with a 5E update Steve would put her in an issue of DH.

It would be worth a mail...

Well, considering how I've posted her (both on the old boards, and now here) for public consumption for free; I just can't see DoJ/HERO really being interested in a traditional submission of her. However, I could just offer her up to the "Free Stuff" section if they were so inclined.

Something to think about, and thanks for your support

Re: Back by Popular Demand-The Batfox!

BTW, Batfox is a regular feature in my campaign, "chasing after" the Foxbat Five (it seemed a shame for Foxbat to work alone, so I gave him a group).

My favorite moment was when she was KO'd, and a womanizing hero went to "make sure she was okay." He ended up kissing her, and it really cut his ego down when she whispered, "Oh, Foxy..." then opened her eyes and looked shocked at who she was *really* kissing.

Yes, I suppose it was. However, here's the method to my madness:

From little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share your ideas! Had post #396 (page 27) from Weldun incorporated a Gravitar and Blacksun idea. Weldun linked his post to Lord Liaden's How would you use Gravitar? thread (actually linking to Weldun's post 43, page 3). There was a mention of Hermit's Batfox, and knowing that Hermit would bite if I set the bait, I asked about it (post 45).

    See.

In addition, post 25 (page 2) brought me to Lord Liaden's Storytime: Birth of RAVEN as well. Just thought I'd add that.

    More like 67%, I think.

Actually, in one game I was in, over the course of 3 or 4 years 100% of the super-heroines (which was only 3 out of 3) were redheads. Finally, we got a blonde - except she was a guy half the time.
