I've been playing Champions (and occasionally Fantasy Hero) since the first boxed Champions set came out. At first, I was taken aback by some of the changes in 6th Ed (what - no figured characteristics?). But after working with it for a bit, I'm convinced. The new characteristic system is more flexible and easier to understand. The base 400 points basically compensates for the higher costs in several places (some older characters converted to 6th Ed are a touch less effective, but not enough to be significant).

 

I love some of the new powers, like Damage Negation. Makes it way easier to simulate certain effects. And I like the change that makes damage reducing powers apply to BODY and STUN Drains.

 

The production quality is good, the sample characters and equipment are solid for drawing out "how should I build this?" questions, and the text is easy to read and informative. About the only minor quibble I have is wanting to know what the DEF of dirt is.    :-)
